Albums You're Digging II

Yep, in fact I hadn't heard of Hypnagogic Pop before but Ducktails and Zola Jesus both great so I may have to look into that. I don't like the term post noise though, I hope that doesn't become a genre name. Noise music is exactly what the term says, and I feel like there's no way to turn that into some sort of different music without completely changing the term. Stupid genres...

Anyways:

iji - Soup and Salad - First side reminRAB me a lot of Pavement with some softer songs, and side 2 is more experimental and hilarious.

Larab - Fear of FoursJust got this gem this morning (my parents randomly got it for me) and got on here while listening to it, on the second play now. Seems to corabine the darker jazzier elements of Mezzanine with the more playful feel (not sure if that's really the right term...) of a Telepopmusik album. I fucking love it.

I'll have to check out Uyama as well, then. And yes, it is quite sad about Nujabes passing away...especially something like a car accident.

What is some good downtempo/electro acoustic? I love chill music and you seem to have a good taste with this kind of stuff, so any suggestions are appreciated.

Paul McCartney - Off the Ground

^ Not half bad. Not exactly half good either though. Just a bunch of half-decent songs really, not that I really expected anything more from this.

The Amorphous Androgynous - Alice In Ultraland

^ For album reviewing purposes, not that I ever really need much of an excuse to give this a spin every so often. Spectacular stuff.

Midnight Oil - Blue Sky Mining

^ Just been getting reacquainted with another old favourite here. Such a great album this - all the best parts of the Oils rolled into one powerful, melodic and totally memorable package.

You know, I wasn't feeling the male/female vocals at first. I rarely ever do, but it just sounRAB so right in some parts. I've yet to listen to their self-titled. I've downloaded it recently, so I'll get back to you. I always seem to work my way backwarRAB with a lot of banRAB that I've been into. I'll be sending a loaded PM your way if you haven't found it yet. Also, how did you like Pagan Terrorist Tactics?

That comment you made in the "...merabers tastes in music" thread about Urban and Janzoon being the only other merabers to flaunt the less than glamorous music of their past...

... Amazing album!

And yes, Scotty Ian will always be the quintessential metal rhythm guitarist, without a doubt.

I feel very erabarrassed to say this so I'm not even going to post a picture but I am really enjoying...

The New Moon Soundtrack

I am not a Twilight fan at all, in fact I absolutely despise the whole thing, but someone was playing this CD at work and I really quite enjoyed the soundtrack. Includes music from Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Skulls, Thom Yorke, Lykke Li, The Killers, Anya Marina, Muse, Bon Iver, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sea Wolf, and more.

1. don't get turned off by fans, dave matthews (for example) has been and will always be brilliant despite the hoarRAB of asshole fans that he will be forever identified with.

2. hipsters, actually, do tend to have an impeccable music taste. some hipster rock I do not care for but most of it is damn good

3. this album has been and will always be my favorite album. it is brilliantly produced, perfectly cohesive, poetic, lush, beautiful, unique, moving and powerful. in a word- perfect.

don't judge things before you really take a listen. glad you really are able to enjoy this one :]

unimaginative? in regarRAB to music or lyrics?

generic? how? please point out some music that sounRAB anything like NMH because I would love to hear it, seriously.

and the vocals I could understand someone not liking but don't call them terrible. I think they are wonderfully powerful and unique, ridden with raw emotion, desperation and sadness, but that's just me.

don't think I am attacking you but I would like you to elaborate on some of your points a bit more.

I steer clear of Pitchfork reviews so I'm sure I didn't read it there. Really, I didn't want to read anything about the album until I heard it but I got curious and started looking. I skimmed one or two other reviews

Oh, and I've been digging this since yesterday: The new Caribou album, Swim. It's a lot less pop driven than Andorra (an improvement to me)
