Albums You're Digging II

I've been digging this one at work, quite a bit:

Al Green - Lay it Down (2008)

One could argue that it's not as strong as the good ole' days, but there are a few songs that I just can't get enough of on here...like this one:

How could you not move to that??

FELA KUTI-THE 69 SESSIONS

More fantastic Afro-Beat from one of Africa's greatest musicians. His albums always make me feel warm and happy inside.

RIVERSIDE-RAPID EYE MOVEMENT E.P

Riverside are very good at what they do. A sort of poor man's Porcupine Tree but the vocals are much better! However each release sound's remarkably similar to their previous releases and progressive rock is exactly that-a progression for better or worse with each album.

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEERAB-DIG, LAZARUS,DIG!

(No image available yet for some reason..)

Only a singular listen but Mr. Cave seems almost playful on this album. I am liking what I hear a lot.

KING CRIMSON-THREE OF A DECENT PAIR

A personal attempt at the King Crimson back catalogue lead me to this surprisingly good album. A few passages show their age (1984) but there are some great little jams on here. A band that I think I am really going to be digging a lot more.

Sparks-Kimono My House
A record of pure unadulterated pop joy, love their sense of humour.Really surprised they arn't more played considering their popularity in the 70's and the nonsense from the era that does get played.

The Whitlams - 'Little Cloud'

*stunningly beautiful song

For more Whitlams, I done a little thingy in my journal about them if anyone is interested...

Thing is, I really went  when I first listened to this and heard it was considered "chill wave". It's just mellow electronic/IDM-ish/synth funk to me. I guess maybe that's what chill wave is, I don't know. I think it's fucking IDM. We don't need no new stinking name for it. :p: But to answer the question, I can't think of anything really close to this at the moment...I'll keep thinking on it. Glad you like it! I'm planning to check out some other artists on the label and associated labels when I get some time.

Air - Moon Safari
This is such a chilled-out album. The perfect album for lying back, putting on a pair of headphones and drifting away to a land free of stress and worry. A classic.

Air%20-%20The%20Virgin%20Suicides%20(OST).jpg

Air - The Virgin Suicides
The music they made for the movie The Virgin Suicides. This album complements the movie so well, there is a real sense of mystery and unease in the music yet it still manages to sound really beautiful. It also completely defies all genres.

Hospice was my favorite of 2009 for a long time.
But then I was recommended this  :
