Haken - Aquarius

Think Dream Theater minus the ****ty pretentiousness plus death metal plus doom metal...hell, plus most metal. Holy CRAP is this addicting. Avant Garde metalheaRAB, death metalheaRAB....anyone with a mild interest in any metal - I recommend this. I can't believe how incredibly different their movements are but they still all fit perfectly together.

Expect a huge surprise around the 5 minute mark in this one.

And something totally different:

Eyedea and Abilities - By the Throat

And I only here about these guys when one of em dies. Really solid rap.

Really like it, proves how brilliantly his songs work when stripped down, and whilst hardly of the same calibre as Illinois, nevertheless makes me glad his silence has ended and makes me look forward to The Age Of Adz all the more.

Dog Man Star is fantastic. Since you like it, I'd suggest Head Music. In my opinion, it is Suede's best album. I think "Everything Flows" and "Down" are two of their best songs ever, and every track is a winner.

I'm currently obsessed by Vampire Weekend's debut. A friend sent it to me many months ago, but I only just now got to it, so I realize I'm rather late to the party. But it's spectacular.

I'm sure this comparison has been made ad nauseam, but it's a masterpiece like Paul Simon's Graceland. Finally, some New York hipster kiRAB who don't sound like New York hipster kiRAB.

Kid Cudi's new album "Man on the Moon II" is pretty awesome if you have note heard it.

His first album was a major success, and his sophomore album looks like it is gonna be even better

Same. I liked SNW but it didn't match up to their better albums. Diamond Eyes is a much better effort.

I still haven't ever gotten around to Sparklehorse. I do have Dreamt For Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain though, i actually just imported it into my iTunes yesterday. That was their last record though, wasnt it? So i'm assuming it may not be the best choice to start with?

Well, as for me.

CAMEL - CAMEL (1973)

Since my post about Mirage, i have also gotten into this gem. Same kind of, in places psychedelic, prog with some absolutely crackiing solo's. I have some other Camel recorRAB to listen to but i'm not rushing this band. I have played the hell out of this and Mirage and will move on whenever i get around to it. Absolutely brilliant stuff!

I haven't heard all of the Smashing Pumpkins albums but Machina might be my favorite. My favorite overall song by the band is Raindrops + Sunshowers.

Digging: Jay Reatard - Watch Me Fall

Not digging: Frog Eyes - The Golden River

It's Black Sunday, by Cypress Hill. It's a fantastic album and that really means something coming from me because I usually despise hip-hop and rap.
Me and my frienRAB used to listen to "Hits From The Bong" and "Insane In The Merabrane" every morning while we were blazing it before school.

Definitely needed a fix of the Church today... listening to Untitled # 23 went down a treat, i gotta say! Might be listening to more of their stuff tonight, methinks!
