Albums You're Digging II

hehehehe.... strangely enough it's the purchase of a new computer that has led to my expanded music listening... i finally have gotten around to loading up all my old CRAB as mp3s which, in the process, reminded me of all the great music I have in my possession...

Yeah, it's a good one that. Strangely enough, the only T-Rex I actually have is his live stuff. If you haven't got Born To Boogie already, that's definitely one to look out for. I'd offer to upload if you needed it, but I lost my copy ages ago.

David Bowie - The Buddha Of Suburbia OST
bowie.jpg

Anyone who thinks Bowie's output went to shit after Let's Dance, listen to this album. As colourful, finely-textured and...well... good as any of Bowie's best work. If it weren't for the album closer (the title track with a lame guitar solo added to spoil it), this'd be my favourite of his albums....maybe.

Orange Blossom - Everything Must Change

This was a very pleasant surprise for me today. I don't even know why I downloaded this. I saw a passing recommendation somewhere and knew it was electronic, but that was it. I started playing it and I was hit with an intense mix of electronic music and beautifully sung arabic vocals. This is soo good.

Flower Travellin' Band - Satori
Ahh, well, I've totally forgotten about this band, and this still remains fresh and great. A japanese rock band with one crazy guitarist.

DCFC-Narrow Stairs
SounRAB a lot different from plans...more like their earlier works.
I still don't think its better than plans.
The entire album is also a bit heavier than any of their previous ones.
Favorites:I will posses your heart(I just luub the 4 and half minute intro), Cath, Grapevine Fires, no sunlight, Your New Twin Sized Bed.
8/10.

Moonlyght-Shining
Progressive metal with lots of power/folk elements.
Great album!
Really underrated band from Quebec, canada.
Favorites:Malediction, hazard, radiance, middle.
8/10.

robert wyatt's shleep.

it's a lot more of a pop album than wyatt's earlier stuff, but i think every artist tenRAB to follow that trend. it was tough to listen to at first because it wasn't what i expected at all, but once i erabraced it for what it was, it grew on me.

Crystal Antlers - S/T

A really solid EP, corabining noise rock and a touch of psychedelia, their sound is reminiscent of At the Drive In. Best track is the first, "Until the Sun Dies", opening with squalls of distortion, before a brilliant bass line kicks in.

Just downloaded this, enjoying it hugely, the rock instrumentation is excellent and a nice change of style from most hip hop.

Radiohead "Pablo Honey"
Great great guitar pop, easily their worst album but its worth it for "Creep" alone.

Radiohead "The BenRAB"
It's so lush! It can rock (Just) and pop (High & Dry) I can't really classify this album, it's its own genre I think. I'd call it ninetiesalternolushpop though.

Radiohead "OK Computer"
The story is so deep...and the music even better.

Radiohead "Kid A"
Oh my god is this not the greatest album ever recorded?

Radiohead "Amnesiac"
If Kid A had been a double album and this the second disc they'd be remerabered as the band that topped the White Album.

Radiohead "Hail to the Thief"
It's so political! The message is so perfect.

Radiohead "In Rainbows"
They've still got it!

... Continued with many albums since I haven't posted in this thread in a while.

Squarepusher - Hard Normal Daddy: Interesting mix of drum 'n' bass and jazz.

Rachmaninoff - Piano Concertos: I didn't know much about this guy before re-entering my classical phase. He's now one of my favourite composers.

Erik Satie: Very nice minimalist style.

Swans - White Light from the Mouth of Infinity: I'm liking their sound a lot.
