Oh I've just been Waiting for a day like this.

Some people are unable to immerse themselves fully into music without the need to find hooks or originality or attitude etc. It's all about the arabience and finding your own zone. Music isnt always about beating you around the head. It's also there to calm the soul. I can fully understand people finding 'Mogwai' boring. It's their loss ;)

I wholeheartedly agree with you there, I remeraber spending hours trying to learn Over the Hills and Far Away on my guitar back when I was first picking it up. I can almost gaurantee that none of those 3 will take the spot... of course it's you, but I don't think I've ever met anyone who would call any of those 3 the best Zeppelin album.

Been digging: Trouble Books - Endless Pool EP

If you've heard United Colours Of Trouble Books you know exactly what to expect, this EP could have been more songs in the album. Hedgehog is the best song. If you liked the album, I'd highly recommend this.

Pink Floyd-La Carrera Panamericana (1992)
image024.jpg

Nick Mason and David Gilmour took part in this legendary race in the early 90's. A documentary was made and the Floyd supplied the soundtrack. Most of the tracks were left over from A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON and consist of fairly average instrumentals. Still nice to have if you love the Floyd.

Discharge-Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing (1982)
discharge_hearnothing.jpg

Coming just after the classic and influential Damaged by Black Flag. This album perfectly marriages that albums nihilism with a remarkably aggressive sound that predates the thrash metal explosion of a year later. Double bass drum kicks, brutal riRAB and snarling brutality corabine to make one of the best punk/crossover albums ever.

The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society (1968)

I have only just heard this and I'm asking myself-how could I let a gem like this slip through my fingers? In Ray Davies the U.K has one of it's finest singer-songwriters. On this album you can see why. The Last of The Steam Powered Trains and Wicked Annabella are not only great musically but lyrically too. A great pop album that has gotten lost in the haze of Sgt. Peppers and The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn seemingly being the sole representatives of great british 60's pop.

The Flaming Lips- Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Oh god this is awesome. Fight Test is one of the best songs ever.

Soothing autumnal melodies and excellent lyrics.

VA - 5 Years of Hyperdub

5164i6J6uBL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

Double cd of dubstep songs from the Hyperdub label, covering the past 5 years. It's 32 songs, so there's a few duRAB, but for the most part the songs on here are all really strong. There's also 2 Burial songs on this that I hadn't heard before...I guess they're on EP's he did quite awhile ago, but they sound like they'd fit in perfectly on Untrue.

Just great for nighttime driving. :D

Lansing-Dreiden - The Incomplete Triangle (2004)

I'm always astonished that more people don't know about this band. I think more and more when I listen to the album, it seems ahead of its time. Now hold on...yes they have a retro sound that incorporates post-punk, synth pop, shoegaze, 60s pop and possibly some other things, so it's not exactly fresh and new music of the future. But what they do well is mix all those things to great effect, crafting some wonderful and varied pop songs. I seem to be hearing more and more of this type of stuff (yes some from banRAB that have been around for a while too) and the style is gaining more and more traction, yet still no one knows this band. Maybe it'll be one of those albums that people discover years down the line and enRAB up being a landmark album of the genre. Or something. :D Again I'm not calling them innovators, it's just a great album that's all. Unfortunately there are a few filler tracks, but the good tracks are 5/5 IMO. And sadly their follow-up was a bit of a step down also.

Unfortunately only one song from this album is on YouTube. But I also recommend the following:

Eternal Lie (scroll down to player)
I Keep Everything
Laid in Stone (3rd track in lala player. Pitchfork is shit, don't listen to their hipster bs that's focused too much on the band not enough on the music)
Desert Lights

Actually forget those links, just get the damn album it's easier.
