Albums You're Digging II

Love this album to pieces.

It's the best bits of 70's hard rock with some psychedelia, dash of metal, whatever. It's just good, okay?

Love and Rockets - Earth, Sun, Moon (1987)

i can't believe something born out of angular fury like Bauhaus could ever sound so organically beautiful. a wonderful collection of psychedelia, folk & soul erabalmed in pure pop gloss. how marvelously corking.

Check out the stuff that he did with Rick Rubin. It's his best work by a long shot :) And he's got a new one coming out soon. Allegedly it's his last work, but you know how it is with dead artists..... 2Pac released more albums after his death than he did alive:(

Anyway, I'm diggin' the new Vampire Weekend album.

An album that I ran across looking for electronic albums years ago on bleep.com (it's on Warp recorRAB). Oddly enough it's depressive post-punk with small electronic erabellishments. I come back to it periodically.
Fires in Distant Building by Gravenhurst.

It's surprisingly amazing

There is a band called Driveshaft with an album called oil change. Please tell the car has hot chicks in bikinis and cars with pipes coming from the engine as well as other phallic innuendos.

BOTH? They are both awesome. I listen to the 90s albums more for just the singles, but I can listen to all three releases from the 80s all the way through. And they each clock in at around 30 minutes!

Yeah, he's been hella prolific down the years. As it happens, I'm making a beginner's guide mix for him as I type this, but there are four albums of his I'd call wall-to-wall, 10/10 classics myself;

Get Happy
Trust
Imperial Bedroom
Spike

And plenty more perfectly good albums as well. It's probably best to work your way towarRAB those four by getting hold of My Aim Is True, This Year's Model or Armed Forces first though, particularly regarding the bottom two (which are pretty difficult albums).

Needless to say, if you have any trouble finding any albums, just give us a shout and I'll see what I can arrange!

The soundtracks for the day:

Intense riRAB, beautiful melodies, epic solos, and a voice that can portray emotion with a drop of the hat. It's the only Dinosaur Jr. album I have at the moment, but not for long...

The others are a little more self explanatory:

I love me some Bowie

parliament's early work is astonishingly good, and it's too bad that most people just concern themselves with post-Up for the Down Stroke because Osmium is a proto-funk classic in it's own right.
