I think that's because you're used to the doom-core influence that is pervasive in the music of the banRAB you mentioned. Schleigho specializes in a more subtle form of darkness and they do, admittedly, have quite a wide spectrum of mooRAB, but it's always their darker songs like Farewell to the Sun, 43, Matrices, etc. that I think of when I think of them. I don't think you've had a chance to hear Matrices or 43, but they're both prime examples of that particular tone which is a signature of theirs.
 
Alltherowboats, judging by your signature, you'd probably like the VHS Head album Trademark Ribbons Of Gold (2010)

I got it a while ago and so far it's my favourite album of 2010. It's very fun.
 
Digging some mid seventies Genesis tonight... namely the wonderfulTrick ofthe Tail, ahhh when Phil Collins was just another one of the guys in the band.... this is still a remarkably good album despite all it had going against it, he departure of Peter Gabriel, etc...

It wasn't my first Jazz but was my first fusion album. And I found it great right away. I'm not realy understanding what you mean about IDM and post rock, though.
Maybe I get you vaguely - like Bitches Brew and good IDM and post rock are all abstract music that flows really well despite the atypical/random structures of the music. but still, the three genres sound pretty significantly different to me

With thanks to Jackhammer. An interesting album, starts off pretty chilled and not that weird at all, then at times it can be very dark and pretty unsettling. A great moody electro album.

I was going to do a review of them, or a couple other old school ones, or The Congos for Reggae Week but I didn't make it in time. Great band!

Right now I'm really digging Bob Dylan.

This band changed so much. If you love really sleepy atmospheric rock (even hints of their former death metal, but not so it's over-bearing) then this is a nice album to just relax to.
 
Hey to continue the REM vibe... really digging New Adventures in HiFi tonight.... blenRAB that raw Monster sound and attitude, blenRAB it with the subtlety of previous releases and it makoes for a freaking great album with a really plively, well rounded feeling... love it! And I also love Monster to death as well... these are prime edamples of overlooked great REM albums IMO.

Every Time I Die "New Junk Aesthetic"
The band's newest released and exactly what I've wanted to hear from them. They drop a lot of the more melodic bits of their past two releases and reach back to their earlier material for that fast-paced, no frills rawness while not venturing too far into metal territory. Some of the most satisfying hardcore punk I've heard in a long time. Especially excellent vocal performances.

One of the best songs I've heard this year.

Between the Buried And Me - Colors

It's no secret that I'm pretty biased towarRAB newer metal out of America. No matter what it is I'm almost guaranteed to prefer the metal coming out of the Scandinavian countries or Holland so for this to get a mention shows what an amazing album it is. I've heard it described as "Adult Contemporary Death Metal" and I suppose that is a good way of describing Colors. The album really does go all over the place, from the guttural vocal delivery of death metal to clean crisp melodic vocals and on one song I heard a freakin' banjo! Talk about eclectic.
 
More more more! I just downloaded the EP and listened to it a few times back to back and I love it, any recommendations of other music like this? I've heard a few artists like this (chill wave I guess or whatever you want to call it) but my knowledge of this sound is extremely limited.
