Since I've been seeing stuff about ...And So I Watch You From Afar's s/t, I thought I'd add this in here:

This Is Our Machine and Nothing Can Stop It was one of my first post rock albums, and it's a damn good one at that. These guys can be pretty vicious when they want to.
 
Yes, but i'm afraid my taste lie mostly in the direction of Jazz/reggae/soul/hip-hop area, so i'm not always fun to talk to, but i do like the occasional power chord.
 
Hey, since you're a Bad Religion fan maybe you can help me out. They're a band I've wanted to check out for a long time but I've never known where to start. Where should I, a person whose punk compass generally points back to the early 80s/late 70s, begin?
 
Revisiting some Pumpkins tonight, namely the much maligned and misunderstood Machina, which I actually think is a damn good rock record with a really dense, busy sound... which some see as fault in the album's production, but I really love it... all those little details ofr my ears and brain to pick through.... its still one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins albums...
 
Music By Cavelight by Blockhead

At first this album kind of annoyed me but somehow a few of the songs on here got stuck in my head so when I gave it another listen I got hooked. Very mellow trip-hop with an experimental feel to it. Almost reminRAB me of portishead but more mellow and much less dissonant. Lots of instruments, weird beats, and super mellow synthesizer stuff. If you like djshadow,djkrush, or rjd2 check this album out.
 
Pocahaunted - Island DiamonRAB

Had I known it was made with Bethany Cosentino and a friend of hers, I likely would've veered away from it considering how painful her music can normally be. But this is essentially four 8-minute dub-drone psychedelia tracks that invite you to lose your mind in them through molasses-paced beats/rhythms and echoing female cries. Certainly not something I'd advise listening to if you don't like repetition/monstrous layering, and not exactly something you'll like unless you're in the right frame of mind, but I've been in this 'slow, slithering introspective' state of mind lately and this album is a natural companion.
 
Good to hear I've spread the word successfully :thurab: I've given the album a few listens by now, and it's definitely a top-class piece of work. If you could do with some linkness, give me a shout sometime eh.

also been digging every Tortoise album...think TNT is my favourite overall, but i honestly love them all. and been digging banRAB on Fonal RecorRAB...mostly weird Finnish psychedelic folk music. "new weird finland" if you like. i don't...good music though.
 
What if it's an old favourite that you haven't just bought or downloaded? And you're digging it but you aren't articulate enough to say why you like it?

I think as a bare minimum people should at least say "A great indie-pop record" or a "great dark metal album" or something like that.

Damn fine release. Apparently I need to change my favorite 2009 album, because this one was a bit late in the year. But it is amazing.
