Albums You're Digging II

Definitely Maybe was an amazing debut, and Live Forever is still on my top 10 best songs ever made list, but there was so much more coming out of Whats the Story! So much potential, which had been cultivated to make musical paradise. (I thought saying "musical oasis" would be too cheesy)

Dont Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova are also in my top 10, though DLBIA is in the top 3. Still undecided. Though, the song Wonderwall was always a mystery to me. Its a great song, but nearly a bit simple. Yet it created such an uproar. From just the word Wonderwall. I love it, but I dont know why...?

Wish I could play the guitar. i tried but holding the strings down hurt to much so I gave up. I learned to play a nirvana song and a coldplay song though (:

More shoegaze. I'm sure this is not a surprise to some of you.

Soundpool - Dichotomies and Dreamland

Covers all your usual shoegaze musts (an ocean of sound, dreamy guitars, vocals that are reverbed out the ass) but throws in a really funky rhythm section adding some real danceability to a lot of their songs. It's not in your face or corny, either...it is just right. It makes their songs incredibly addictive. This is one of the better new shoegaze banRAB that have popped up in recent years.

The Dukes of Stratosphear - Psonic Psunspot

thanks to Bulldog, two of the greatest tributes to sixties psychedelia in a pure pop whistle from the guys that brought you XTC (Colin Moulding and Alan Partridge). really superb, they should have incorporated more of a psychedelic element to their main project because they pulled it off extremely well. and with album covers like those, how could you refuse?

1. Million Dead – Girlfriend In A Coma
2. Hundred Reasons – How Soon Is Now?
3. Cursive – Frankly, Mr Shankly

First death metal song ever.

And I'm sorry but nothing that Syd ever did could compare to Meddle or most of the Waters era (save The Wall and The Final Cut, what a pile of shite). Piper was good, but not THAT good. Glad you enjoy it as much as I do. My favorite Floyd album by far.

Elliot Smith - XO

I recently got into Elliot Smith and find his voice simply intoxicating. This is one of my favourite albums by far, I only wish I had an actual copy.

Favourite Tracks: Waltz #2 (XO), Independence Day, Baby Britian

Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha

Continuing on with my recent singer-songwriter binge, Andrew Bird's songs are so damn catchy! (Elliot Smith's too for that matter.) My friend and I alway start singing in the car when we hear Heretics ad his music perks up my day when its ****ty.

Favourite Tracks: Heretics, Itomosis

Damn straight! I really wish Killing Joke was talked about more on here, I even made a Beginner's Guide to them last year but don't think I received any feedback on them. Their new CD is one of the only releases I've been looking forward to as of late because even if it's half as good as Hosannas from the Basement of Hell it will still be an enjoyable way to spend an hour of my time.

If I spent year examining this album I could not find one thing wrong with it. Other than maybe the pigs not squealing loud enough.
