LSD and the Search For God - Self Titled EP

a My Bloody Valentine clone...warm and fuzzy and really spacey...have to admit that a full album may just entice me to play My Bloody valentine, Ride or Lush...so five songs are perfect

Erm, I didn't explain clearly.

I have a "5 Star Playlist" on my iTunes. It's comprised of anything that I enjoy enough to hear on a regular basis. Lots of albums have come very close to earning 5 stars on every song, but until The Betrayed, they've all had at least 1 song preventing that.

So it's not that I think The Betrayed is the best album ever, I just enjoy every single song on the album.

Very folky, I love his voice, love his lyrics, the instrumentals on this album are gorgeous. I first heard him when I got the single "One By One" from his debut album of the same name, but could never track it down. This album is all around fantastic, he's got a bright future.

Download - Microscopic EP (1996)

Damn I miss early Download. This is so awesome. A remix EP, though not in the sense that it's more techno/dancey...it's just different interpretations of the songs. Just as twisted as the originals. Some quite arabient, in fact.

MC Lars - This Gigantic Robot Kills (2009)
mc-lars-this-gigantic-robot-kills-$7031690$300.jpg

I've been a bit a nerd kick lately, finally listening to MC Frontalot and now I've moved up to MC Lars. I wouldn't really call this album 'nerdcore' because it talks more about social trenRAB, conformism, ecology, and even suicide. All the songs are very well written, chock full of wit, literary references, and thoughtful observations. MC Lars is really eclectic with his sampling choice and beats, ranging from a pop-punk backing, to ska, metal, and so on. Overall this was an album I should have listened to last year when it came out, however late is better than never.

Been listening to this one a LOT lately. It's almost been my soundtrack for the last couple of weeks

A gorgeous and, at times, beautifully melancholic album. Lovely lovely

Enjoying some Kings of Leon tonight, specifically the "Because of the Times" album.... man this thing is just a darn good meaty rock album... I bloody love it! Kicks from start to finish!

10 Ft. Ganja Plant - Bushrock
I think this was released a week ago although it wasn't slated for release until the 28th. A lot mellower and rootsier than their previous album. It's growing on me.

NWOBHM has dated badly. Witchfinder General, UFO, Angel Witch, Diamond Head were all great during their time but today sound inescapably still in the eighties. The thrash which coincided and banRAB like Sabbath that preceded NWOBHM are still relevant but those of the era have slipped in time, caught permanently behind thrash metal's wake.

Paul Weller - Wild Wood

I forgot how fucking great this album is. Such a good downtime album, and one that doesn't tail off into mediocrity like almost all of his other albums do. Supoib!

Yeah, it's a good 'un eh. I'll admit I only ever really listen to the first half of it these days, but it's worth having for 10th Avenue Freeze-Out alone.

And talking of Dad-rock...

Desert Rose Band - Desert Rose Band

One of many reasons why ex-Byrd Chris Hillman's easily among my favourite musicians, singers and songwriters. This is his debut as the Desert Rose Band - his project with a certain Herb Pedersen. So catchy it's almost unreal, and an album I still refuse to get bored of after about 3 or 4 months of virtually constant listening.
