I think their are underrated. Im really liking classic punk lately.

Shostakovich is awesome. ;)

Autechre - Chiastic Slide: This is sparking my interest in arabient electronica.

I love that Deftones record too. I used to absolutely despise that band and it was that record that changed my opinion. I have yet to check out their new one but i might do that soon as i will probably end up seeing them in a little under two weeks now.

9th Wonder's opus features North Cackalacka's most dynamic group absolutely ripping shit up. Get this immediately if you're a fan of soulful hip hop that's poignant too.

The Depreciation Guild - In Her Gentle Jaws

This is the first band that uses the chiptune sound that doesn't annoy the hell out of me. An awesome blend of chiptune and shoegaze...at first I didn't think it would work but this album kicks some ass. The two styles are blended seamlessly.

Some of the songs use way more of the chiptune sounRAB, but this song is awesome so it's the one I went with.

Edit:

Ok, I had to throw in another song. This is too good.

Ive got a soft spot for Neil Finns music and (some) Crowded House as well, probably because my mum used to play it all the time along with Lighthouse Family/Simply Red/Beautiful South/etc. This album actually cost me a whole 60p, possibly the best thing Ive ever bought for 60p.
On this album he plays with Eddie Vedder, Johnny Marr, Ed O' Brian (I think) from Radiohead, some lassie as well i cant rememeber the name of.

An excellent version of the smiths classic by Neil Finn.

Probably the best tune he did solo:

Im still to check out Split Endz and some Tim Finn.

^If you want to hear them grind. Bear in mind they've never been a pure grindcore band, but they really have a lot of grindcore parts on this compilation of early tracks. What's great about Mastodon is they mix up a lot of influences, and it's impossible to call them any specific type of metal band. There's also fair amount of mathcore in the mix.

I have been on a funk fest recently (as my recent complilations will testify). A mass review for these four:

THE POLITICIANS-THE POLITICIANS FEAT.McKINLEY JACKSON

OHIO PLAYERS-HONEY

THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH-COSMIC TRUTH

KAY GEES-KEEP ON BUMPIN' AND MASTERPLAN

Big as s funk bass lines, blaring horns, wacca wacca guitars and afro's. what more do you want? find 'em get 'em!

I at least understand what they were trying to do on St. Anger (with the production anyways) with the garage-band sound. But Death Magnetic is set up to be a much better album, and they compress the hell out of the sound with pretty much no rhyme or reason.
