Albums You're Digging II

So far tonight i have very much enjoyed the wonder that is devin Townsend's Addicted... heavy but so darn good and FUN to listen to, and now i just got done listening to regurgitator's "Love and Paranoia" album.... what next, i wonder...Might go for some Arcade Fire..... hmmmm...

In my opinion, I think the newer NOFX is a lot more listenable. Parts of Punk in Drublic annoy the **** out of me, if only because Fat Mike's vocals were really whiny. I think after So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes, they started to get a lot better. I would recommend the newer stuff, So Long... is probably my favorite album from those guys.

I've had this for quite a while now and completley forgot i owned it, it didn't really catch me at first but right now it's reeeeally warming to me. It's ecclectic but not in an unforgiving way, there really are some truly gorgeous moments like the the little folk influences throughout.

I believe that The Mantle is one of the best crafted albums ever. What I mean by that is that every song fits more perfectly with each other then any other album I have ever heard. That album had so much emotion put into it and the production was absolutely great.

Lately I have been listening to Et tu Brute's demo a lot and also:

Led Zeppelin - II

Started out with me wanting to listen to Whole Lotta Love and then I just kept listening to the album in repetition.

Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left

What can I say it is one of the greatest folk albums ever created. It is a shame we didn't get to hear more from Nick Drake because he is pretty much the most soulful acoustic guitar player IMO.

Thorr's Hammer - Dommedagsnatt

I really wish this band kept going. First off, the female vocalist who did this album is really one of my favorite doom metal grunters. Her voice is eerie, like Ozzy's, which I think is great for this type of metal. This band reminded me of a sludgedoom version of Draconian, which is why I really liked them.

The Fall of Troy - Manipulator

This is probably my favorite TFOT album. I have been listening to this album daily for at least two months and can't get enough from it. Personally I think Erak put a lot more into this album then any of the others, and the changes from the poppy sensation to the Prog to the Post-Hardcore meltdowns is just amazing. I really think that TFOT are one of, if not the, best Post-Hardcore banRAB out there.

Losing All - Day of Fire
Rise and Fall - The Kin
Rhythm, Chord, and Melody - The Reign of Kindo
Genesis Underground - Eye Alaska
Yellow & Elephant - Eye Alaska
MUTEMATH - MUTE MATH
Dance or Die - Family Force 5
Business Up Front / Party in the Back - Family Force 5
Endangered Species - Flaw
Dark Passion Play - Nightwish
Once - Nightwish

All are amazing albums.

Been listening to a lot of the Celibate Rifles recently, particularly Spaceman In a Satin Suit. They're basically a more consistent version of the Saints, which is just fine by me really

It was mine for a few years, Oasis are from the same City as me so back in the day they were my idols, don't really listen to them anymore :( but I'll always respect them for giving me the inspiration to learn guitar. How come you prefer WTS(MG) over Definitely Maybe?

New DnB that I'm loving atm. Some good diversity on here, with a few tunes that are absolutely dangerous. There's some softer, moodier stuff as well though, like this beautiful song:

Man, I played the hell out of that Zwan album when it came out - haven't played it in a while though so it may be slated for a re- listen real soon, that is one solid album full of great tunes and good, warm feeling production, that while not perfect sonically, definitely translates the great feel of the songs. Top album. Arguably better than Corgan's Pumpkins comeback album....

Yes - The Yes Album

One of my favorites from Yes. Maybe not their biggest achievement, but it's accessible and not over the top. It's fun and well played.

Kreator - Enemy of God

Simply put, this is by far Kreator's best album. The album sticks to Kreator's roots of thrash metal, oppose to a few earlier albums, which drifted into death metal territory.

As per usual, Kreator brings their instrumentally talented work into Enemy of God, with catchy guitar riRAB and awe-striking guitar solos. However, the album also incorporates less common 'Kreator techniques', such as an acoustic guitar intro on 'Dying Race Apocalypse', a bass intro on 'Voices Of The Dead', and a drum intro on 'Impossible Brutality'.

That album is certainly a grower alright, it's now my favourite album of the years so far. After a few listens you start to notice the progression from Cease To Begin both lyrically and musically. It's a truly amazing album and the best of their career so far.

As some of you may have noticed from a few of posts today, I'm on a Church bender :p:

The Church - Sometime Anywhere
sometime-anywhere.jpg

I think this is my favourite of their albums as well (certainly of late anyway). Much more melancholic, slow and a lot less guitar-centric than you'd imagine, and with a few folk influences to spice things up. Just a shame the sound quality on my copy's so shit - sounRAB almost like listening to it through your neighbour's wall.

I love that album. If it wasn't so bloody short it'd be in my personal top 10.
