Albums You're Digging II

Yeah, I kinda hope that's the case as well. It could very well be a question of him simply having his hanRAB tied on the issues, and that the only one with any real power as such is the PM himself. Could also be that all kinRAB of crazy stuff gets done in his name only, seeing as Garrett's in the lofty position he's in and all that. Of course, I don't live in Australia, so I wouldn't know as well as a lot of other people do, but I highly doubt he'd have spent so long singing about the kinRAB of things he did if he really didn't care about them. It is pretty painful though hearing what he's had to say about his approving the opening of uranium mines and pulp mills though, I'll admit that much. I guess there's only one man who knows exactly what's going on when all's said and done.

Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming

The first of what would be many of Dylan's Christian-themed albums. It's all very nice his standing up for his beliefs in musical form and all that, but bloody hell does it sound corny. Musically though, this is a pretty good album.

Galaxie 500 - On Fire

This album made the 8 o'clock train to Dublin this morning a very enjoyable experience. I was listening to this on my ipod while staring out the window of the train at the frost-covered countryside, and what an amazing experience it was. These guys might get lumped in with shoegaze or dream pop but they really do stand out on their own. They didn't give a fuck about fitting into anything, their music came straight from the heart.
 
I've listened to them a couple of times, only because on of the merabers was the guy who did the remixes for Fear Factory. I admit that I like the sone Silence with Sara McLaughlan, but I can't do the "electronica" thing for too long, and ended up going back to Remanufacture after too long

Awesome! I have only heard 50 percent of it (50 songs (!) in this case), but yeah, it's unbelievably great. Some really good popsongs but also more weird experimental stuff, and even a 1974 track from good ol' Bobby Pollard.

Kenichiro Nishihara - Humming Jazz

I saw this recommended around here somewhere and checked it out...this is awesome! It has some of the smoothest jazz piano mixed with hip hop and r&b I've ever heard. Thanks to whoever posted about this!

Desiderata - We Are Not Convinced There Has Been Any Improvement
Fun post-hardcoreish band from Fort McMurray, Alberta. They opened for These Arms Are Snakes.
 
Yes doooood! I'm obsessed with that album and have listened to it more than 25 times since I got it. 'This Time, This Year' is probably my favorite track right now. Such a poetically beautiful song.

I also downloaded The Great Depression and don't like it nearly as much. I don't know much about this band but what's with the female singer in the latter album?
