i honestly don't understand why Zen Arcade is the only Huskers album to have a lasting fanbase, this is just as awesome and with less filler.

i was pretty underwhelmed with Damned Damned Damned so i didn't know what to expect. spot of brilliance, i have no clue why more early punk acts didn't sound like this.

I haven't heard any of those! Klaus Schulze is obviously a big name but I haven't heard anything from him except Irrlicht and Moondawn. I shall have to get on that...

Yeah I will dif. check out 'Dig Me Out'. These days it's really hard to find an album that I will actually listen to the whole thing let alone day after day for a few weeks straight.
Do you know of any other Chick banRAB that have a similar sound to 'The WooRAB' or 'One Beat'

I'm listening to it now, it's definitely strong. As would be expected, it's closer to In the Absence of Truth than their others, which is fine by me because I really like that one too. So...you should like it.

The BenRAB is actually my favorite album by them, but Kid A is probably the more experimental, artistic one. Both of them are great and Ok Computer as well, so it doesn't matter that much which ones you start with. I still have to get Amnesiac, In Rainbows, and Pablo Honey though.

Augustus Pablo - King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown (1976)

For those not in the know, King Tubby was a revolutionary producer and engineer who 'invented' dub music and the remix, and was the first of his kind to gain fame and respect on a par with recording artists (at least in Jamaica).

Augustus Pablo was another first, the first melodica instrumentalist to record an album. 'Rockers' was the name of his label, named after his brother's sounRABystem.

So what you have here is Pablo banging out his tunes, playing all the keys, and overseeing production, before letting Tubby loose at the mixing stage doing what he did best - using the mixing desk as an instrument to earth-shaking effect. Loping basslines are brought to the fore, vocal snippets are phased in and out, elements are doused in reverb and other effects employed to create that atmosphere... it's saturated and heavy but lighter than air at the same time.

Groundhogs are damn fine. A couple of ex merabers now play in a band called Egypt who are playing only 10 mins away from me in a couple of weeks with half of the door proceeRAB going to the local hospital. I'm very tempted but again on my own :(
