Albums You're Digging II

I loved Dirty from the moment I heard the first crazy feedbacked riff of 100%. I think it is the perfect starting point for SY newbs. It has plenty of accessible material but still has plenty of the crazy guitar antics that made them famous. My favorites are probably Theresa's Sound World, Sugar Kane, and Wish Fulfillment. It would take me about 4 years to pick up Daydream Nation, not be impressed by it, and then another 3 to listen to Goo and decide I needed their whole discography.

Oh, and I'll buy recorRAB Butch Vig has produced based solely off that. I love the sound that guy gives banRAB. That's why I picked up AFI's Sing the Sorrow, and I actually really like that album.

Man, it has been a LONG time since I listened to this one. Interestingly enough, I find myself digging the exact tracks that I didn't like on this album when I first heard it and not digging the others so much (The more epic ones mostly... Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prophet's Song, Death on Two Legs). Gotta love tunes like Good Company though. That's a hell of a track.

Current 93 - Black Ships Ate the Sky (2006)

Transcendental neofolk courtesy of David Tibet and collaborators (Will Oldham, Antony, Shirley Collins). Possibly my favorite Current 93 album so far, an extraordinary work to say the least. This guy is growing quite nicely on me.

Wow... does this album ever make up for the lackluster Born Like This. Some great collaborations, awesome beats, some more unconventional instruments used and some really good lyrics. Anyone who likes DOOM neeRAB to get this.

I'm in the mood for challenging double concept pieces with busy and often incomprehensible storylines!

Actually, I love this album to death and enjoy it immensely everytime I hear it.....
 
Elvis Costello - Punch the Clock

First time I've listened to this for quite a while. Uses just about every trick in the book when it comes to having a stab at the commercial market in the early 80s so, yeah, the majority of it's pretty rubbish. 3 or 4 songs on it are among my favourites though, so it's worth having for those.

My second TMG album is downloading, All Hail West Texas. If it's as good as The Sunset Tree I'll be very happy.
They have 17 studio albums, there's potential there for this lot to become a favourite band.
Can't wait to discover more stuff by them.

wow, considering that this band released this album in the mid 70s, it's suprised me how ahead of it's time it was.

i highly reccomend this to anyone
 
The Raveonettes - In and Out of Control

I really like this! it is so much more accessible than Lust Lust Lust. The noise on Lust was great, but I couldn't stand listening to the entire album, so In and Out of Control is a step in the right direction (though many probably disagree :b)

The latest album from one of the more under-exposed Factory banRAB. It's decent enough I suppose - interesting corabination of post-punk with dance rhythms, but nothing absolutely earth-shattering.

The Tempo! Tempo! EP. I came across it at random the other day and just had to download it for the hilarious title. It's some German new wave from I think 1982 - again, good enough, but nothing spectacular.
 
I get alot of people liking my music 'Pauletta' but actually a lot of people seem to be digging the CD covers/pics more than music lately for instance - Katy Perry - Teenage Dream - Most controversial album covers ever

60/70s songs are the best ever made and too many to name; Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Who, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Neil Diamand.. TOO MANY TO MENTION!!!
