Albums You're Digging II

Cathedral`s 90`s stuff is definitely worth the effort. Their first three albums are classics of the genre. The debut "Forest of Equilibrium" is a doom metal classic. The next two "The Eternal Mirror" and "The Carnival Bizarre" mix in stoner metal and are another two classic albums. From there on I felt they lost their spark and they released more accessible sounding albums. I haven`t hear the latest release though.

Stuff I've been hammering lately:

I've probably posted about Brainiac a while ago but I don't think I paid them the attention they deserve. Turns out Hissing Prigs is a really damn fine glitchy noise rock album.

Quite simply the best instrumental hip-hop album i've heard. I haven't had much time for music lately but i've had a lot of time for this.

Bits and pieces from the now defunct Giant Drag. Longer, more ballad orientated songs which is great as they tended to be my favourites songs on Hearts and Unicorns. I MISS THEM.

Well duh. I could pick a much better setlist but they're as electric on this as ever.

Epstein - Otros

Excellent instrumental hip-hop with a few guest MCs and some cool samples. A bit of Latin flavor on some tracks. Really great production. Epstein is Roberto Carlos Lange who also recorRAB as Epstein y El Conjunto (with guest musicians), Boom & BirRAB (with one other guy), Helado Negro and ROM (with another guy). He also collaborated with Prefuse 73 on the last Savath & Savalas album, La Llama.

Here's a sampling of his style:

What you posted was hardly showing interest in my post so don't give me that spiel. You were being funny, I wasn't brought in with the last shower. I've already said I'll update my post, I just didn't feel the need to write anything yet until I'd listened a couple more times.

I admit I was a bit of a **** but nothing is ever going to come of this so let's all hold hanRAB and listen to music in tranquility.

The Verlaines - Bird Dog & Hallelujah All the Way Home

Two great albums by The Verlaines. Amazing, well-written, jangly indie pop songs with fantastic lyrics - they're one of my favourite Flying Nun banRAB, and that's saying something.

Totally rediscovered my love for Crowded House's Temple of Low Men tonight... how could thoughts emotions and lyrics this twisted up, conflicted and angst ridden be packaged into such neat, listenable, GREAT pop songs. This album, in my opinion is a minor miracle...

I have a bad habit of singing along to music when listening to it with headphones (not in public though), i think the hopelandic makes me sound particularly stupid when singing along to this album! (:

I have very fond memories of getting this album on virtually the day of release and hearing it for the first time.

^ One of many reasons why it wasn't a waste of money.

This week I haven't really listened to too many albums per se... lotsa random Smashing Pumpkins tracks.... mostly a CD in the car i have with their most recent releases... made for some good listening... i should get around to some solid album listening tonight!

It's been like spending a few days with an old friend I haven't seen in years. I love this album. Aside from the well-known and epic "Echoes," I dig all the songs. I especially love track sequence. My favorite is "San Tropez". It's a lighter song off this somewhat heavy album, but it makes me think of cheesy scenarios like falling in love with a girl while you watch her eat a ripe peach. Yeah, I know. Cheesy as fuck. And what. :bringit:
