Albums You're Digging II

I remeraber when I first listened to this album from start to finish, and how taken I was with Gold Dust Woman and Oh Daddy (my 2 favourite tracks off the album)

I actually kinda think that Radiohead eclipse U2 as far as quality is concerned, but that's just me.... the last four or so U2 albums have been great in places, but kinda spotty at times....

PJ Harvey - Dry

Rock n roll! First time through and I'm digging it. I don't find it overtly sexual as Rickenbacker suggested. Of course, he is 14 right? :D

JULIAN CASABLANCAS - PHRAZES FOR THE YOUNG (2009)
Very enjoyable new wave/pop record. My expectations werent too high so im really enjoying this one.

PENETRATION - MOVING TARGETS (1978)
Theres not exactly many banRAB formed out of nearby County Durham but i have always felt that female fronted Penetration were one of many overlooked gems from the British punk scene in the late 70's. Tight live band too.

This is some funky, soulful, hip-hop goodness from New Zealand. The vocals have a very Marvin Gaye sound...on the whole it's just wonderful. I've been listening to it over and over. Here are some of my faves:

Kraftwerk - Die Mensch Maschine

While I'll admit that in 2010 "The Robots" sounRAB incredibly corny, it still doesn't sound dated, and neither does any other song on the album. It's kind of surprising considering how well this holRAB up considering the fact that it's been aped so furiously over the past 30+ years.

Wasn't really to into that Hello Saferide but thanks anyway, I'm always up for suggestions.
But yeah Strawberry Jam kicks ass and I'm pretty sure the new album (after Street Flash EP) is going to be my favorite ever. There's 4 or 5 songs that I've heard that are just flat out amazing IMO.

Another current fav:
Dukes of Stratosphear - Chips from the Chocolate Fireball
XTC alter ego band. Weird thing is I think it's the best stuff they did. I mean I like XTC but pretty much all their albums are 1/2 good (if that) 1/2 filler.
Key Tracks - You're My Drug, Brainiac's Daughter, Collideascope, Little Lighthouse

Bob Dylan - Good As I Been To You

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this album is sooooo much better than I thought it would've been, seeing as it's a collection of solo covers of old folk standarRAB. Dylan's guitar is terrific throughout. Plus, he does a version of Hard Times on it, which is basically my favourite traditional folk song.

Elvis Costello - Secret, Profane and Sugarcane

The sound of Elvis Costello going bluegrass. Such a good album this. Even my girlfriend likes it, and she listens to garbage like the Backstreet Boys and Usher on a daily basis.

Hmm, where would I find REM's cover? Apparently I've already played the song on Chomp but it didn't sound familiar in any way. Not like when I first heard Wire's "Strange" and felt like I'd heard it somewhere before. :p:

I'll have to go back to "Crazy" when the album's over.

To each his own I suppose. Rolling Stone really isn't a good gauge though, in order to write for Rolling Stone these days you have to be a douche bag so I hear. When they did their "Immortals" list of the top 50 banRAB/artists, they left out Pink Floyd but put in Madonna.
