Albums You're Digging II

Avi Buffalo - Avi Buffalo
I downloaded this album during the summer but i never really gave it much of a chance, i was kind of put off by the vocals at first. But lately i've grown to love it, it's not one of the best albums of the year but it's certainly one of the best debuts. You really have to appreciate the timeless, innocent feel of songs like 'What's In It For?', 'One Last' and 'Where's Your Dirty Mind'. A very memorable album.

Divine Styler - Spiral Walls Containing Autumns of Light
200px-Spiralwalls.jpg

The most schizoid rap/funk/noise/spoken word album I've ever heard. It kind of puts ODB to shame. An intense journey, but has a few really catchy songs.

Miles Davis - On The Corner

Oh... so Miles Davis invented post-punk? Drool...

Which sounRAB like a crazy hybrid of tropicala and david grubbs

^ Ah yes that was quite the album last year, but I've learned that whenever Shpongle put out an album it's going to be good :)

Stolen Babies - There Be Squabbles Ahead

Heh where to start... well lets see... this is like... prog-pop-cabaret-thrash-quirky-goth-metal. Totally unlike anything I've ever heard before, yet warmly familiar. The female singer is also incredibly attractive, even with the face paint... plus she plays the accordion! How many girls can say that?

Anyways if you like Diablo Swing Orchestra, Mr. Bungle, or just Avant-Garde music in general then you owe it to yourself to check out Stolen Babies.

Skin and Bones - Foo Fighters: A really nice little live accoustic compilation of songs by a band I have loved and enjoyed for a long time...

Last night I also found myself really digging...

Music Has The Right to Children - BoarRAB of Canada Loved the mellow, experimental, artistic feel of this album... damn solid too... not a single track even remotely feels like filler...

18 B Sides - Moby: Despite being Bside material, there is alot of strong music going on here... some of which exceeRAB some of the tracks that made it on to the 18 album proper....

Kate Nash "Made of Bricks"

I have poppy teen angst, I have floss, I have mouthwash, I occasionally drink tea. This most certainly is the album for me.
Favorite Songs: Mouthwash, Foundations, Nicest Thing, Mariella

Beck "Odelay"

I've got two turntables and a microphone. It's time to own!
Favorite Songs: Devil's Haircut, New Pollution, Jack-Ass, Hotwax

Los Campesinos! "Hold On Now, Youngster"

I don't need stationary to get me horny. This album does it all for me.
Favorite Songs: My Year in Lists, Knee Deep at ATP, 7 This Is How You Spell 'HAHAHA, We Destroyed the Hopes and Dreams of a Generation of Faux-Romantics', ...And We Exhale and Roll Our Eyes in Unison

Elliott Smith "Figure 8"

This is the best album ever. Don't argue with me, no never.
Favorite Songs: all of them.

Midnight Oil - Blue Sky Mining

Midnight Oil - Earth and Sun and Moon

Been a while since I last got a load of Oils, and I'm just remerabering why they're one of my top 8 on LastFM. Love or hate Peter Garrett's vocal style, you've gotta admit there's character and edge by the bucketload to the whole sound (which is basically all I keep an ear peeled for in any music I listen to).

One of my favorites right now.

Jimi_Tenor_and_Kabu_Kabu-4th_Dimension_A_b.jpg

Funky Jazz with Afro-beat influences and a crisp experimental tinge, excellent.

Others too, but that'll come later in another format.

I used to think Figure 8 was my favourite by him,but this feels like one of the best albums by anyone when I listen to it.I'm really growing to love Roman Candle as well.

Sorry.

First one's The Telescopes: # Untitled Second. Easily one of the most underrated shoegaze banRAB, like Lucifer said. Check out Taste too if you like this.

Second one's 65daysofstatic - One Time For All Time. It's post rock with an electronic tinge.

No problem, any time I can enlighten a new person to the awesome sauce that JoCo is I take it.

Anyhow here's what I'm currently digging.

Slint - Tweez

This is such a cool contrast to Spiderland, it's almost like it's a different band. I'm really digging the bass on a few of the songs, specifically "Carol". It's really cool to see the band in such different places in just a two year time frame. Both of their albums are amazing, I have yet to get their untitled single.
