Albums You're Digging II

Now very much enjoying Get Lonely by the Mountain Goats.... a very sorabre, but incredibly well written and played set of songs, it rivals The Sunset Tree as my favorite album by the band...like that album it's very confronting lyrically, but thats part of what makes it so darn compelling...

Orbital - Snivilization

One of my favorites from them. This song is fucking immense!

Emmylou Harris - Elite Hotel

Just giving this one a spin at the minute. One of my favourite, somewhat more traditional-sounding country & western albums this. Aside from a great bunch of originals, the covers on this are excellent too - the Beatles' Here, There and Everywhere and the Flying Burrito Brothers' Sin City being a couple of highlights. And gawd dayam was she hot back in the day :D

I definitely will do that. Thank you. I haven't really listened to them that much lately, so I think this will be a good place to pick up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Bob Dylan's latest, and its actually quite good! Has a very Nashville/alt-country feel to it. Its good to know that Bob can still put out a good album.

Just ****ing awesome, plain and simple. The songs on this album are ridiculously infectious.

Lovely music. I dig the whole mood of this album, and all the tracks really deliver for me.

Ha! I love that Herbie's name is censored. I will definitely check the album out although, I don't think I really dug him in the early 80's. There's been lots of music from my youth that I've just recently learned to appreciate.

Vintersorg - The Focusing Blur (2004)

If you haven't heard this album then you have no right to judge black metal. It's an incredibly blend of folk melodies, black metal and clean vocals, progressive rock styled songs, and inclusion of samples.

When you read this post Dayvan Cowboy I need you to get at me because we need to get you moving on to your next avant-garde metal album.

The Divine Comedy-Casanova
A thoroughly enjoyable work of smartarse pop, I like it as much as I did 2 years ago when I last heard it.

Hot Snakes - Audit in Progress

They're like Les Savy Fav. Except good. Despite the haplessly formulaic song structures (everything is in 6/4), John Reis and Rick Froberg still managed to crank out oodles of inventive riRAB and stuff them into four-minute packages. Probably the best anyone has channeled Wipers or Mission of Burma since Zen Arcade, I'm wondering how they gravitated so far from their roots in Drive Like Jehu and still manage to sound so good.

Excellent record for anyone who has an even nominal interest in post-hardcore or indie rock.

Fireside - Fantastic Four

1994 debut LP from this little-known Swedish post-hardcore band. Their sound is sort of like a less hardcore Quicksand.

It's a rough trade inspired bonanza!

Revisting this and it's just as cute and charming as i remeraber. And badass. Some of the guitar lines and basslines are just inspired, and they get even more points for having a singer who looks like a librarian.

Just chilled out and gorgeous, with that slight blues feel to it and the dark, probably stoned, singer which keeps it far away enough from being too MOR to me. This will be my sleepy time album for the next week.

Been on my list for yonks. Pretty weird. Pretty great too.

Tally up one more for the people who loved the album. First time I heard it had me listening to it almost non-stop for a week. That 'jesus' song is the only one i can't stand. Every other song on that album is brilliant. I guess some people just can't connect with it but that doesn't make the album bad. I always thought the best music takes a while to grow on people anyway. I used to hate most of what are now my favorite banRAB. soooo whatever.
