Albums You're Digging II

Throwing Muses - S/T

Man, I love this album. It lives somewhere between jangly college rock and the darkness of post-punk. The lyrics sound cut up and nonsensical, yet you do get the strong impression of recurring themes. The vocals are great, probably the best part of the band. Bitches do it better.

The Breeders - Last Splash

So far, I think this is overall a slightly better album than Pod. Which means it's pretty damn good. Includes a couple actual hits, some filler, and some really cool off-beat tunes.

Art Enserable of Chicago - Les Stances a Sophie

I've never heard an album sound so deliriously beautiful and ugly at the same time.

Butthole Surfers - Hairway to Steven

Takes some of the edge off their earlier recorRAB. Really love the acoustic.

Do you know what? I already knew that (; Aha, its from George Harrisons Wonderwall Sessions.

And he did not nick it, he just borrowed it and made it into something compleetly different. Snaps to George for the word, but Noel developed it!

I hadn't listened to Kreator in ages but funnily enough was listening to this one yesterday. I'll have to go through their albums again cause I was getting into it.

I have some Death Angel too but likewise, cant even remeraber the last time i listened to them. Might have to re-visit them too!

Glad you liked it, The Stage Names, their most recent one, is on par with it. It's more rock-based I prefer Don't Fall in Love but both are great. Black Sheep Boy owns both and is one of my favorite albums ever, it will blow you away when you hear it. Everything is kicked up a notch, it's one of the most emotive things I've ever heard.

I've been meaning to dig this out as well. When I got it all I liked on it was "Swamp Thing", but there were alot of albums I got that year, so many that some I dismissed, like this one, and came to find out later that they were much better than I originally thought.

Thank you! Might i say your Last Fm charts are looking pretty!

Oooh yes! On a similar note this one is brilliant too

I have to give them a lot of credit for the amount of effort put into the mixes, especially becauses it crosses so many genres of music. A mighty fine party game as well!

Been wanting to get my hanRAB on that for a while. A former flatmate of mine was quite the fan of that album, and I was pretty impressed with what I heard off of it. Can't remeraber any song titles though. That American Football album sounRAB pretty interesting too.

Been cranking the new Fall album again myself. Three listens since getting it, and it's still one of the best they've done in years. Red raw, loud as anything with some great basslines and the whole lot.

Chris Hillman - The Other Side

I don't have anywhere near a good amount of bluegrass in my music library, and albums like this make me wonder why. This here's one I downloaded last night, and judging by the first listen it sounRAB like an excellent, easygoing slice of bluegrass to me. The lyrics are hella corny, but I'm loving the melodies and musical arrangements all the same though. Also, it's putting me in the mood for the following album, which can't be a bad thing...

Elvis Costello - Secret, Profane and Sugarcane

Sir Elvis Costello's excellent latest effort, and a refreshing departure from the same-old-same-oldness that was the album he released before it.

Newish female fronted post punk/C86/Synthpop type band from Brighton.
They sing about pregnant women, music snobs, lost dogs & Mark E Smith.

This is the most fun i've had listening to a new album in ages.
Their new album has just come out too. I think I might be getting it on the strength of this.

The second half of this album ("Holland, 1945"-on) is one of the most powerful things I've ever listened to. I was really not expecting to enjoy this album at all, but honestly by the time it ended I was nearly in tears. And I still don't know why.

I can't believe I waited this long to listen to this album, because as much as I enjoyed ITAOTS this one is 100x better. Honestly, I can't say anything about it because it makes me speechless. It's one of the finest albums I've ever heard.
