Albums You're Digging II

yeah yeah.

Thom Yorke's The Eraser has been a great companion on some of my icy morning commutes of late, a fine little musical accompaniment to my morning!

Ah, yes, the fabulous Midnight Oil.... saw them three times, once in a stadium, once in a small pub, and once at an outdoor festival... great band, amazing back catalogue...

Pity that Peter Garret gave up the microphone to join the Labor party... but hey at least Aussie can claim to have one of the most formidable political songwriters of the twentieth century as one of its leaders... pretty awesome to consider it...

That's the album that got me obsessed with them. I've been a bit disappointed with the new album False Priest so far, sadly. I also still have a hard time getting into their early acoustic/psych stuff. It's a bit too...whimsical...for me.

I'm not sure what random 4th-grade-caliber attacks on my person (shouldn't have expected anything else from a Lakers fan) have to do with any of this, but I know that the minimal amount of effort it takes to >click signature >read text has been completely blown out of proportion. Sure, signatures are disabled for people. I've already conceded the point that, hey, naming the album next time would be good.

^ As the followup to one of my favourite ever albums, I wasn't really expecting anything truly mindblowing from this. It's a good album with much more of a focus on conventional rock songs, and there are definitely some great ones on this album. Gone though are the dark atmospherics, danceably funky rhythms and the epic grandeur that made Mind Borab the masterpiece it is, but still a very good album nonetheless.

^ And this here's the solo album from the lead singer and principle songwriter of Talk Talk. Again, a very good album, but a lot more lo-fi than his latter-day work with Talk Talk, and not quite as good either. Still definitely something I'd recommend though.

Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley

It's taken me an inordinately long amount of time to get into Kyuss, considering how fond I am of QOTSA, but this stuff is killer

Have not heard Ki yet... would definitely appreciate a download if you have it and you aren't vehemently opposed...

Terria is still definitely my favorite though his other stuff is amazing... there's just something about the material on Terria which is just little bit extra that edges out the other albums. It's a classic in my opinion...

I have heard of it, but I have not listened to it. I'll have to check it out, you seem to like a lot of the same stuff as me.

There is a logical progression amongst their albums. There are no other albums that sound like Psychocandy per se...but that is a good thing, trust me. I enjoy DarklanRAB much more than Psychocandy. DarklanRAB is Psychocandy minus the intense feedback they loved for that album plus all the great pop moments x 10. Knowing you like Psychocandy, if you like DarklanRAB then it is safe to say you will like all their stuff pretty much.

ooh, i'm digging this!

been looking for more stuff like Cranes and Mazzy Star. learned about a genre called Dream Pop. looked it up, found a toplist, this was nuraber 3. it's very 'dreamy' for lack of a better word. airy vocals, light synth... nice collection of tracks. my only complaint is that the vocals track does not stand out much - it blenRAB right in with the music. makes for a somewhat monotonous sound...

i'll definitely be digging deeper into this genre. i've tried Cocteau Twins a few times now, and they're just too inaccessible for me...
