Albums You're Digging II

Tonight, very much digging Elsewhere for Eight Minutes by Something for Kate... very much a raw, more gestational form of the band, but so full of winning tracks it always resurfaces during my music listening time.

It was a beautiful moment sitting in the cool shade of the stoop of my house avoiding the sweltering august mid-day heat that Houston is notorious for, yet I was drinking hot coffee and chain smoking hand-rolled cigarettes just the same. There's a perfect soundtrack for just such a moment.

BoarRAB of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children

Haven't listened to BoC in over a year, and I'm really in the mood for it once again. It's perfect music to do something intellectual to (homework, some RTS game, you name it) as the music is just as smart and as ingrained in attention to detail as the thing you're doing. Needless to say, it accompanies a genius* like myself very well.

* I don't have frienRAB :(

I think it all depenRAB on your music tastes. I used to despise Kid A but i really like it now. If you would prefer Radiohead wielding guitars then go for The BenRAB, if you can handle the guitars being traded in for the electronica then yeah, Kid A.

Red is one of the greatest albums ever... and Starless is my favourite ever song.

I'd have to agree on that. Morningrise is probably my fav Opeth album.

A wonderfully skanky version Of early Sabbath filtered through a grunge asthetic but don't let that put you off. This is unpolished, raw good old distorted noisy Rock n Roll with a suitably raw production.

A less abrasive version of Gogol Bordello but with better hooks and more fun.

Easiest description? Groovy punk riRAB punctuated with strange time sigs and an infectious edge that evokes Jon Spencer Blues Explosion at their very best (but better?..).

Just turn the volume up and tap your feet. Easy peasy Housey groovy schizz that is not too taxing on the old grey matter.

Hum of Life-Dog Faced Hermans

They're supposed to fall in the anarcho/folk punk genre though since I haven't heard they're earlier albums I'll have to assume those earlier works better fit that description as to me this particular album this has a more experimental post-punk sound. I'll definitely have to check out more of their music as I'm really loving this one.

...

Rolling Stone put that album as something ridiculous on their list of 500 Greatest Albums Ever.

The Beach Boys are one of the most overrated acts ever, with one, ONE good album to their name (the aforementioned). There are idiots that compare them to The Beatles and try to justify it by screaming about Brian Wilson's collective genius. Critics run in circles with their thurabs up their asses trying to suck Brian's and Dennis's withered phalli at every chance they get. I'm TIRED of the veiled references to The Beatles, I'm TIRED of the goddamn Kennedy Center nominations, and I'm TIRED of the fucking music nazis rubbing their heaRAB in the steaming pile of shit that was The Beach Boys.

i have that cd too, and TBH i'm not that into it, while they're are some good songs, it's probably one of the least played cRAB in my library

Urban Tribe - The Collapse of Modern Subculture

Some ridiculous downtempo Detroit hailing from 98. Awesome stuff if you're in the right mood (or high)

Released under the great Mo Wax, starring Sharrard Ingram, Anthony Shakir, Carl Craig and others.
