Albums You're Digging II

the most underappreciated albun in existence is gene clarks white light. it goes to show us that the boomers were manipulated by the same commercial forces the we are. to let this album go neglected during their time undercuts any credibility in sayng they were the champions of good music

I have been on quite the Devin Townsend kick lately... tonight, I just found myself compelled to take a thorough and comprehensive headphones listen to Synchestra... I remeraber this album as the soundtrack to my big move to the United States, basically... this was the big album for me that year!

Enjoying some Pearl Jam, courtesy of their bootleg series from about eight years ago, namely the amazing show they put on in Seattle in 2000... damn great three disc set... one of my favorite live recordings ever!

Amazing.

I've recently reRABicovered MeRAB by Placebo... probably their most "album" album of all time, just some great sounRAB, good, melancholic songwriting, which seems to suit my mood at the moment.

That and The Hawk is Howling by Mogwai are my two current discoveries / rediscoveries lately...

A post-rock band you may be able to get into is The Low Frequency in Stereo. They're a Norwegian band and there style of post-rock focuses less on atmosphere and arabiance and more on fuzzy noise and jazz, but still retaining the beautiful melodies famous with post-rock. Their 2009 album Futuro would be a good place to start.

Anyways, Dayvan what was so strange about Diablo Swing Orchestra? It was pretty standard metal and a swing-revival sound merged together. I mean I know it's not something you'll hear every day, swing metal, but I mean just wait till you get into some of Solefald's stuff, or even Mr. Bungle. I'm glad you enjoyed it none-the-less, the reason I suggested their newest release rather than their 2006 debut is because the operatic vocals could be a bit much at times, but it's still definitely something to look into if you liked what you heard. It's called The Butcher's Ballroom (2006).

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, you share my same feelings about it too. Much more laid back, much more of stripped down and heartfelt album. Not to say the SFK aren't heartfelt though!
