Albums You're Digging II

Really digging Clark's EP Throttle Furniture today, I think it's some of his best work.

Have you heard Everything Ecstatic? I liked all of his albums but thought it was the best by far. I can get that sorted for you if you'd like, definitely something you should listen to before you write off the band.

Oh, I gave Modern Life Is Rubbish a listen. I like quite a few songs on it. I'll have to give it a few more listens.

Is there an Oasis album that you'd reccommend over What's The Story Morning Glory?

Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow (1976)

Got this album for my birthday last year, and boy what a gift! This fantastic album is the single best thing Jon Anderson (of Yes) ever put out by himself, and stanRAB as a testament to just how creative someone can be when left to their own devices long enough in studio. Everything you hear here is done by the main man himself, with no help from other musicians.

Although its something of a concept album (the story revolves around the Moses-synonymous Olias leading his people to a new planet to live on and the dangers they face during the exodus), this is just one of those things that is so gorgeous to listen to that the subject matter seems inconsequential to the experience of simply listening. Jon's ever distinctive vocal talents and use of harps, guitar, and dozens of other instruments take front seat here, setting up its own hemispheres and ethereal pleans for your mind to float around in. Hell, even newborn babies would enjoy it!

So basically, this album is absolutely fantastic on every front and deserves to be looked into by anyone who is looking for something timeless in its appeal to the ear and soul. Highly recommended.

Here are a few tracks to wet the appetite:

Redneck Wonderland - Midnight Oil

Twelve or so years on, it's still a magnificently, intense, fun and yes, still quite relevant album...

Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Aarab Strap

My first Belle & Sebastian, and it won't be my last. Catchy Indie-pop songs, lyrics that draw you in. One of the most pleasurable first listens of an album I've had in ages, well I say first listen.. it took about 3 for me to love it. Great album. Can't wait to listen to another B&S record.

Sometimes when I go from related video to related video on YouTube I get nowhere.. but this time I DID end up finding a new favorite artist. Peter Broderick

Distantoblivion, I managed to find a torrent of the Paul Dempsey album, so you don't have to worry about messing with the temperamental upload now.... many thanks though just for trying! I'm looking forward to a good engaging headphones listen to that particular album tonight.... should be bloody awesome!

Really enjoying Mer De Noms by A Perfect circle tonight - it was a good decision to dig this one out for a another playing - i forgot how much I loved this album and it still sounRAB pretty darn great to this very day!

Had a good night of listening so far, going over a few albums I haven't played in some time....

Watch Me Disappear - Augie March
Reading,Writing and Arithmetic - The Sundays
Circlework - GB3

And, hmmm, maybe to finish up the night's listening, it might be time for some Crowded House, probably the new and rather awesome Intriguer album...

Really enjoying this recently. It could get a little strange if you don't know the concept right away, but overall it's a great album.

Yeah, it's just about the strangest album you'd ever think would be a commercial success eh, let alone a trans-Atlantic hit. Great album all the same. If you dig it, you should definitely get this album as well...

^ The last album Joe Strummer ever worked on, released posthumously and after a couple of listens to the whole thing, I can't find a single thing wrong with it. There's a lot more acoustic guitar than you'd imagine on an album with Strummer's name on it, but it still utilises everything that made the Clash great and gives it that kinda new twist. I've had it barely twelve hours and I already love it.

^ And I'm just blaring this one out at the moment. Easily one of XTC's best. Much more orchestrated, kinda ethereak and so different from any of their other albums too.
