Albums You're Digging II

The Black Keys - Brothers (2010)

I'm really enjoying this album, far more than their previous few releases. It's not quite as hard as their first three albums, but it's solid and has a nice neo-psychedelic sound to it, plus it's quite melancholy without being whiny. Great white boy blues-rock.

The Sadies - Darker Circles (2010)

I haven't enjoyed a true alt. country album this much since I found Deer Tick back in Noveraber. I only had their 2004 release, Favourite Colours which I didn't really like that much but I didn't want to write off this band because they're Canadian and similar to Elliott BROOD in a few ways, but I just wasn't having it with that album. Well luckily Darker Circles came along and completely reversed my opinion on the band. I'm not really up to date as to what's coming out country wise this year but if nothing else is, then this is my favourite alt. country album of the year.

Hard to say. I mean I've only heard this one album but it's really good, quite a bit heavier than Anthrax or Megadeth. Stylistically I'd compare it to Hell Awaits-era Slayer. One kind of neat thing about the album also is that the band were all pretty young when they recorded it—all under 20 I think.

This is a stupid conversation.

Mos Def - The New Danger

Who says a hip-hop album can't be a little bit of everything? This is an insane piece and really showcases Mos Def's versatility as an artist.

Yes it is, I haven't really looked beyond Blackjazz in the band's discography. I'm just revisiting all of the metal albums from 2010 so I can begin construction of my "best of" list.

Niiiice. I got their album Dandelion Gum last week and listened to it like 10 times, so another album with a good recommendation is exactly what I need. Thank you.

The Swirlies - They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons

Can't get enough of this album. Incredibly addicting experimental 90's guitar rock. I guess I could compare them to Sonic Youth, but they really deserve to be heard in their own right. Excellent, excellent music.

Opeth - Morningrise

One of my favorite Opeth albums. I believe the acoustic sections are done much better on this album then any of the others.

Not an album but a two track split from these fellas:

Fantastic arabience with a hint of that Two Step that's so indicative of Burial. It's been on loop for an hour now.

MinionTV - s/t

Just listened to MinionTVs debut album. Pretty great post-rock album. Propably goes into my top 5 list of post-rock albums released this year. That is quite good since 2010 has had some really great post-rock.

Agreed, even if all else I have of theirs is a best of I picked up on the cheap and Love. Somewhere In My Heart and Good Morning Britain though, speaking of their later work, are two of my favourite 80s singles ever ever ever, so they weren't so bad as time went on I guess.
