agreed. i love smog because of their awesome lack for both simplicity and dissonance. just such an interesting and moving sound for lo-fi to adopt. amazing.
So we got Kid A, The BenRAB, In Rainbows, and a friend of mine said I should get Amnesiac although it's harder to, uh, get into (not sure how to say that). I might as well buy their whole discography, or a compilation... x)
The polish duo heavily borrow from 60's onwarRAB polish jazz during their samples, and the result is pretty good. I quite like it, a solid album, and will probably grow on me. My favourite tracks are 'Break In' and 'High'.
Really beautiful experimental/electronic album. It's been said the Dance Party in the Balkans was only sucessful because of Zach Condon's (Beirut) participation in the album, but I disagree wholeheartedly. Now, I'll be honest, the only reason I downloaded this album is because I saw Condon's name in the description, but I've really grown to adore this album. It's really gorgeous and artistic, I highly recommend it.
Probably one of the cheesier items from my library, but I still love it all the same. It's got that great, laid back and infectious vibe about it that only a cracking country album seems to be able to accomplish. Very uplifting stuff, and one of my favourite albums for sure.
I think I've had this album for 3 years now and I still can't stop listening to it. Songs like Shiver Me Tirabers, Please Call Me Baby and Drunk On the Moon are so blissful they're almost unreal.
Found. Red Spot compilation with Fried Abortions, Minimal Man, The WounRAB, Animal Things, Eazy Teeth, Research Labratories, Arsenal, and Micon it looks like. According to Terminal Boredom, which I find to be a fantastic resource for finding new music, this is pretty much exactly what you were talking about... San Francisco's version of No New York. The article goes way in depth about the whole scene too, you should definitely check it out: Terminal Boredom
I haven't found it yet, but I'll shoot you a link if I do. Please do the same for me, I guess this is something I should check out as The WounRAB and Flipper are there with The Screamers. And I didn't even know that's where The Residents came from.
It's got his trademark production style, but with a thread of hot anger running through it that I don't see on Company Flow or The Cold Vein. Lyrically it's just strong as you could hope for.
^ I support this album. And I still haven't listened to their first one. I guess there's a bit of reluctance since it's generally not my type of music. But I do like Mountain Meadows a lot.
^ Some fantastic, modern ska that bears quite the reserablance to the 1st wave before the coming of rocksteady. First time I've dug this out since I first got my grimy claws on it almost a year ago now. Supoib!
Although i dont think it eclipses Today's Active Lifestyles i think it's a stellar album, one of the best of the year. Seeing them tomorrow (i bet you guys are becoming sick of this gloating)
get on down to the dubstep thread and cop the last set I uploaded. I want to start reviewing dubstep albums (not too many to cover) so we have that genre accounted for in the rab Reviews archive.
Script of the Bridge has had a real resurgence around here and I have a CD copy unlistened to for pretty much 5 years, time to get with the program methinks
Wonderwall was the first song I learnt on guitar, then I learnt About A Girl - Nirvana and Smells Like Teen Spirit. You should give it a go again :thurab:
