Albums You're Digging II

Pink_Floyd-Animals-Frontal.jpg

Just reintroduced it into my record collection. This album never gets old.

I was pretty obsessed with Lateralus... believe it or not, that album totally centred me during what was a pretty turbulent year... and who doesn't love Aenema... a modern classic! Tool are definitely within the circle of my most valued / treasured banRAB, thats for sure!

I haven't listened to this album in nearly 5 years and my god it still has that same profound effect it did when I first heard it when I was like 14. There are certain albums that stay with you your entire life, and I'm pretty sure this album is going to be one of them. The only song I don't care much for is "Drips".

Dessa - A Badly Broken Code

Oh man where to start... next to P.O.S. she is my favourite artist currently signed to the Doomtree label. Her False Hopes EP is easily one of my favourite EP's where I love every song. Well A Badly Broken Code is False Hopes on crack. Beautifully produced and some real heart wrenching lyrics... kind of like if Ani DiFranco did a mixture of spoken word poetry and hip hop. This is a must grab for everyone.

The Slackers - Better Late Than Never

Classic "2.5 wave" ska. This rough & tough album is owning my ear drums at the moment

The Black SeeRAB - Solid Ground

Apparently New Zealand is the new Jamaica. Great Dub-esque music from Kiwiville.

Chet Atkins & Les Paul - Chester & Lester

Two legendary masters playing together. Its Country guitar pickin' meets cool jazz lickin'. The aural equivalent to floating down the river in an inner tube on an overcast summer day. Beautiful.

Got a few more to add... Don't forget Telescopes! They're often noisier and harsher than most of the other shoegaze banRAB but easily as good. Solar Coaster mixed punk and shoegaze in a ridiculously enjoyable way. And if you haven't heard them, Medicine are good as well. Don't miss some of the other newer banRAB too like Candy Claws and A Sunny Day in Glasgow.

Really digging these two albums.

It's folky, with mixtures of roots, country and punk and it's very traditional Irish influenced as well, a lot of good sing-a-long songs too, at least for me.

Her first full length, and it simply is a girl and her ukulele, playing short songs with a sweet whispery voice.

Silent Hill OST's 1 and 2 by Akira Yamaoka

SOundtracks for the horror Playstation 2 titles, the music is worth checking out despite its soundtrack status. Filled with a bit of rock, a bit of industrial, a bit of this, a bit of that, its an entertaining listen in my opinion.

Dolores O'Riordan's solo album Are You Listening? is my ultimate album I'm digging at the moment. She's just what I need for the end of exam period. Here is one of her songs of the album:
