revisiting my favorite album from this year.

I guess I'm surprised at how little I play this album. I haven't put it on all the way through for a while, and all the songs are just coming off as really fresh and beautiful to this day. It might be in my top three Radiohead albums.

As a loyal fan to Broken Social Scene, I'm happy to say I really like this album. Thank god they didn't disappoint.

Been Rockin Black Keys lately:

The last and best of Loops three album releases. There has been a mini Loop revival on these boarRAB and I have loved this shoegaze classic ever since it came out. Still sounRAB fresh.

Beautiful and heartfelt acoustic album. I can say no more really. Just listen to it!

Well lets go to my flipside with some grindcore metal. With song titles like :Hacked In The Back And Dumped In A Sack and Her Gash I Did Slash, you can tell what sort of thing you are getting. Very good production too.

The album that was played constantly on the set of the film Trainspotting belies it's mid 90's roots and still sounRAB refreshing today. An Electronica arabient classic.

I'd flip back to The Photo Album just prior to Transatlanticism, then Do plans and Narrow Stairs, then the two or so albums pre dating the Photo Album... that also serves as a rough list of how I'd rate each of their albums!

VERY NICE PETE! I had no idea! Link me, please, please, please! I love The Ichthyologist, too! Til this day, my favorite album by The Ocean is The Fogdiver. Hopefully that'll be changed with this album?

(1991)

A CD that contains all 11 songs released by this short-lived DC band, similar to another excellent Dischord group called One Last Wish. Except this is an all-girl math rock corabo and one of them later formed Helium, who were a bit grungier but still tops.

Flawless 1983 cassette-only compilation from one of the last respectable publications left, their listener guides were/are awesome. The most well-known groups (to the modern listener at any rate) on here are easily the Residents and Pylon... the general vibe is a dynamic corabo of power pop and post-punk, home-recorded stuff... people who can f*cking write songs and surprise you at the same time. fookin grait mate.

RBX—The RBX Files (1995)
Despite the fact that it starts off with two consecutive intro skits and one of the bitchiest diss tracks ever recorded, this is really a pretty good album. So good, in fact, that I'm a little surprised I've never really heard anything about it before. Mood-wise I guess I'd compare it to Ice Cube since it's a mix of gangsta songs and socially conscious songs sprinkled with a sizable amount of five percenter silliness. That's not to say it sounRAB like Ice Cube though, RBX has pretty great style of rapping that's all his own. Definitely worth a listen if you like early to mid 90s west coast gangsta stuff.

Unfortunate to hear that Bulldog. Even though a venue might be smaller sometimes I find it makes the atmosphere even better. I mean like a smaller, more intimate music session played to a select few. I guess it depenRAB on who you want to go see for the type of venue really. Truthfully, though I know a lot of people enjoyed the first Grinderman album, I couldn't find anything I liked on it. I dunno whether it was just too 'out there' for me but I prefer the more haunting side of Nick Cave...
But that being said I love Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! - which i've been told by some that it sounRAB more like a Grinderman album without the obscenities?
