Albums You're Digging II

I agree yes, one of my favourite albums of 2009. Recommended to my on here by musicphantom13, big shout out! Beautiful album, simple yet effective and a great album for this season I feel.

Sooo good, especially for its time. Basically really, really early indie/grunge.

David Byrne's first proper solo album, and still his best by a mile. It's awesomeness is multiplied when you're listening to it through headphones like I am now - really brings out the terrific African and Latin American-styled percussion.

Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash-The Replacements

I love going back to listen to albums you love but haven't heard in a long time. Brash, aggressive but still full of humor, though it may lack standout tracks as their later albums had, Sorry Ma to this day still remains my favorite Replacements album.

I'm on a Def Jux binge at the moment, this doesn't really break the mould that much but is very good. Very dark hip hop, deals a lot with his messed up childhood, the lyrics aren't as abstract as Aesop or EL-P, but pack a graphic punch.

Excellent production as you'd expect.

The Atmospher thread reminded me of how much I love this album:

It looks cool... I hate how often people put up random albums with no worRAB on them and don't mention who it happens to be :(

I'll never get tired of these songs. This remains my favorite My Bloody Valentine EP.

Whenever I lack interesting things to contribute to the boarRAB, I guess I'll just keep doing this...

^ I'd have PIL over the Pistols six times a week and twice on a Sunday. Essential stuff this - great show of the diversity of PIL's material, and some killer songs like Warrior, Don't Ask Me and so on to back it up.

^ I don't care how many McCartney haters there are here, I still love a fair amount of his solo work. True, he's done some pretty horrible stuff (the borefest Mull Of Kintyre or Boil Crisis for example), but this album's just great. Another one I've dug out after an age or two of neglect.

^ A little under-cooked, and not as well-rounded as some of his work, but a wonderful, chilled-out album nonetheless, and one I listened to religiously when I was a teenager.

Never heard these guys back in the day, and only became aware of them fairly recently, but damn this is good. I've always loved the idea of thrash but a lot of thrash albums, even the ones regarded as classics, don't quite seem to meet my expectations in terms of fury and energy. This album delivers in spades.

Stupid name, good music. It's basically dubstep, but to me it's as much IDM and dowtempo as it is dubstep. In other worRAB, it's not your run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter dubstep.

Edit: I forgot to mention there are a few songs to stream here and you can download the whole thing free at 320kbps: Mrepsican | Acroplane.org
