Albums You're Digging II

Machina II... ya know, The Pumpkins shoulda just taken the plunge and put out another double album... so much stellar material going on here! They could have easily bested themselves with a double Machina... people might have even welcomed it, they knew the Pumpkins were a band that didn't do things by halves...

You know what's easier than a whole bunch of people doing all of that? One person just including the name of the artist and album in their original post.

Probably my favourite Oils album at the minute that. Good choice :thurab:

Yeah, you can't go far wrong starting with those two. Into the Labyrinth would be a good one too. In fact, the only studio album DCD have ever released that I think isn't really all that is their self-titled debut, so any one of them would be good by my reckoning.

bah

Told you guys it was amazing, it's a great pop album and it helps you get laid. I think they started slipping when Brandon grew that horrible mustache.

Best album i've heard in a while. So many influences on show it's hard to pinpoint them, i'm getting tastes of rabV, Punk, Led Zeppelin, Isis, all condensed into an album that isn't going to get boring anytime soon. Heavy post-punk sounRABcapes interspersed with some of the most fun jams and riRAB i've heard in recent times. I'm trying to work out why i haven't got round to listening to this before now.

George harrison is like the coolest Beatle, no joke. John Lennon (no offense) was a bit too.. something. Not sure what but he never fully appealed to me. Amazing musician though. Paul and Ringo were cool, just fine. And George seemed a genuinly nice guy. And probably the less noticed of the four, even though he was the second to pass - John Lennon nearly being the most mainstream of the four.

This is just my opinion - and keep in mind that I talk crap most of the time.

It sure is. Your music tastes are getting better all the time :thurab:

Durutti Column are so damn good. Criminally overlooked.

I don't have this or have even heard it. I only Have Opiate and Lateralus.

I like some of the Collins-era stuff, for sure. Like you said, he started to suck pretty quickly, but there are some gems. A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering are both really good, and about half of Duke is good. I still haven't heard And Then There Were Three. Abacab and Genesis are pretty lame though, and beyond that, during their late 80s/early 90s pop era, I liked a few singles when I was a kid.

This is so good too. The Feelies are incredibly influential. If you like this, you should check out their next album, which took 6 years to create. It's called the Good Earth and it's basically the Velvet Underground to their The VU and Nico. Amazing autumnal sound with great production by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, whose guitar playing was massively influenced by the Feelies' classic debut.
