Call me a nerd if you like, but Samurai Champloo is probably the best thing I've ever watched. Movie, T.V. show, anything, it's the best. Years ago after I watched the first episode of the show on Adult Swim, I knew I had to have the soundtrack. So I went out and downloaded it immediately. The sounRAB were just so... laid back, it just blew me away. I was just really getting into smoking at that time, and this stuck with me. I must have listened to it hundreRAB of times. But for some reason, I didn't actually follow up and get more into the downtempo genre untill I got Smoker's Delight and Thievery Corporation about a year later, and not until shortly before joining rab when I had a sudden surge in my interest in music did I actually really start getting into the genre. Since then it's introduced me to some great stuff, particularly:

Nujabes - Metaphorical Music. Sorry that was long.

You have any other Fat Jon The Ample Soul Physician albums? I think he did some of the music for Champloo, so his other albums bight be worth a download (Afterthought, Wave Motion, Lightweight Heavy)

I've really gotten back into Elvenefris recently. It's death metal (brutal/tech I guess, I'm not the best with metal's sub-sub-subgenres) with an incorporated middle eastern influence. The drumming is astounding, and throughout it manages to stay simultaneously beautiful and heavy.

I'd love to see them live but im to poor to go see them in New York.....But of the videos I've seen it would be worth it, but I'm saving up for a new guitar I've had my eye on for quite some time.

I have everything by them... just no way to upload it all with my current device... will probably be rectifying that real soon...

Albums I have been digging this evening... quite diversely different from one another, if I do say so myself...

Wind and Wuthering - Genesis
Starfish - The Church
Godkiller - Deliverance

I just realised that unintentionally all three of those albums have a religious connection... The first being by "Genesis" of course, as well as the fact it has religious overtones in songs like One for the Vine and Your Own Special Way... The second, obviously is by the Church... and there also religious touches in the track Hotel Worab... and the Godkiller album's entire lyrical content is derived from Psalms...

So there ya go. Spooky.

Their new one is coming out sometime this year I believe. I really hope it is better than Saturday Night Wrist...it had its moments but I was a bit disappointed.

A Broken Frame - Depeche Mode
This album is interesting because it was right after Vinnie Clark left and Alan Wilder came in and the transition between the first album and this is a slight off but in a good way.

Standing Next To Me (Single)- The Last Shadow Puppets
The song gas dance is outrageously good.

one of my favorites

"I'll fuckin sew your ass cheeks closed and keep feeding you, and feeding you, and feeding you."

It has been a while since I've listened to this and it's definitely still an amazing listen.

My favorite Beck album, I really haven't appreciated it until recently.

Novel_808s_Mixtapes-front-large.jpg

Now this is a mixtape. Every song is good, most of them are great. Happily, Novel kept it short and didn't stuff on any filler, which is pretty common even in my limited experience of mixtapes.

The title is a little misleading, there is a lot more than Kanye remixes on here - Coldplay, Adelle, Lupe Fiasco. Plus a bunch of originals that stand up very well on their own.

Fever Ray - Fever Ray

Hell yes! Why in the hell did I wait so long to get this? Oh I know, because when it first came out, I assumed it would be much different from The Knife, and the song I heard kind of confirmed that. But nah, this is closer to The Knife than I thought (at least the last album), and it's really great so far!

No problem, let me know what you think of the others. His first album "Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing" isn't really that great, it was purely solo under the title Strapping Young Lad and Devin himself only said two tracks were really decent. Their self-titled album was alright, but definitely not in the top three. "Alien" is probably the most similar to "City" as far as intensity and lyrical content, but "The New Black" really shines as it really does strike a good balance between their hardcore metal and humor.

someone made a thread about this band in the electronic section.
i have listened to it 4 times in a row now - i just can't get enough of it.
it's lazy yet soulful. mix of arabient electronic and downbeat sounRAB topped with sexy, syrupy vocals. it's incredible.

all that from a swedish band with a japanese/american singer :D
