Albums You're Digging II

Everytime I listen I fall in love with this CD a little more.

I'm by my own admission about 5 years behind the times, so it was nice to find out that good conscious hip-hop was still being made in the 2000s. The production on it is fantastically laidback too.

Found a few things I`ve missed lately which I plan to revisit tonight.... namely, U2's Zooropa album as well as In Rainbows by Radiohead... along with the bonus disc.....wahoo!

In Absentia - Porcupine Tree

This is a grower for me. when I first heard it i couldn't stand it - it sounded mediocre and commercial and the constant switching between heavy guitar and soft melodies bothered me. But i decided to give it a listen while i was out on a walk yesterday and it just clicked. definitely a keeper.

that album (and the Telescopes in general) is completely underrated but such a definitive token to shoegaze with its lush arrangements. one of my favorites, glad you enjoy.

as for me:

Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga

i caught up on a (somewhat) recent indie binge, rediscovering the wealth that Spoon has to offer. and i've come to realize that this tops off their collection rather excellently. makes me pine for the release of their latest.

I just finished with her first album with Gang of Four, "Songs for the Free", which is my second fav LP from those commie bastarRAB. She injects much more of a funk beat into the group and it works very well with Andy Gill's groovy James Brown rhythm work. There's a lot of great stuff on it like the brooding "History of the World", but "Muscle For Brains" has been erabedded in my cranium for the last several days.

2010 isn't very old yet, but this is easily my favorite of the year so far. Even if it's only been out for nine days, it still makes me sad that I've only seen one other person mention this album on rab. Dreamy and intelligent elecronic/pop/manyotherthings. Soooo good. :D

^^Oh yeah, that's the band from your compilation I liked very, very much. Did you choose the song from this album? If so, then I need to hear the whole thing.

Marcos Valle - Previsao do Tempo

Brazilian popular music. This took a while to find. His earlier releases, like Braziliance! was brilliant instrumental - bossa nova stuff. This one is really funky and when filled with catchy infectious songs like This, It's hard to stop listening :o:.
