Tis really good from what I've heard so far...

^ Much better than you'd expect from an 80s Iggy album, and has a few of his best songs on it with Isolation, Shades and Real Wild Child.

^ And this here's Starfish's longer, darker and ultimately hotter cousin.

Seems the thread died before I became active on the forums. ;) Also it's easier for something to catch your eye in a general thread like this one, versus a thread about a specific band that I've never heard...but I'll cop the download, thanks 333!

Hoodoo Gurus - Stoneage Romeos
Great little album this. Bright and upbeat Australian pop-rock. It's nothing truly amazing, but goes down really well if you're in the mood for it.

Half Man Half Biscuit - Peel Sessions
One of Britain's finest. I've been listening to this virtually non-stop for the last couple of days.

Today's batch...

^ An album (or, rather, double album) that I've had for a good 5 or 6 years and still sounRAB just as fresh, powerful and majestic as it did when I first heard it. The gospel choirs that the man opts for with this album (something he'd veer away from in future, unfortunately) really gives it such a unique edge among the rest of Nick Cave's discography.

^ And I'm still listening to this obsessively too. As I think I've alrady said in this thread, this album is so good it's unreal. Easily some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

I liked the album art of Constellations more than this one, so I had gotten that one. Then I decided I would need to give this one a try too. And then I ended up enjoying this one a whole lot. More than Constellations.. even though Bowsprit is still my favorite track from them.

^ I remeraber that lot! Or at least I vaguely remeraber seeing some video of theirs on MTV2 many many moons ago.

If you're having trouble with Absolute Beginners, I'll up it tomorrow myself if you want (I'm out tonight y'see). Oh, and the movie's a total shocker, so don't bother hunting that one down.

^ Very nice, good sir. Do you listen to anything else from Clint Mansell? And that DVD is pretty sweet. I've mentioned this before on here, and I will again and again - those goddamned hand gestures during "Arriving Somewhere ... " just kind of, sort of ****S the whole DVD for me. Meh, maybe it's just me because I don't hear anyone else bitching about it.

The Magic Posistion
One of my favorite albums right now, it's chalk full of many great tracks, such as Augustine, Bluebells and the Magic Position.

My other favorite album at the moment, one of Patrick's best. My favorite songs would be The Libertine, Tristan and the Railway House.
ElliottSmith.jpg

Because I love Elliott Smith, and this is a great album, my favorites being Alphabet Town, The Biggest Lie, Satellite, and Clementine.

^ That album is absolutely bloody immense. I Got the News is where it's at. Those jams in the middle of the title track are sheer bliss too.

As if by sheer coincidence, I'm currently listening to this...

2172-1.jpg

Some of the most infectious songs I've ever heard. Top marks for the guitar work throughout the whole thing too.

wu-tang-vs-the-beatles.jpg

Every bit as awesome as you'd hope for. Unlike that bloke from Gnarls Barkley (i forget his name)'s Jay-Z/White Album mashup, a portion of the tracks on here do not actually use Beatles samples, rather latter-day RZA-like horn motifs parping Beatles choons...
However this doesn't impede on the overall quality of the produckies. The vocals are lifted from not only Wu tracks but the solo careers, it's ridiculously long, the Beatles/ODB skits are classic (heareth) and it's freeeeeee. Or at least it was until the bandcamp.com profile got taken down. Haw haw.
