Albums You're Digging II

(1985)
Posted this here at least once already. white-knuckle top ten business. became such a fixture i got the CD this summer, which was really pricey by today's standarRAB as it happens. it's good for when you (i) am at a loss.
Some Joe Satriani-loving thing was talking to me today about this guitar virtuoso supergroup he likes called G3 and how amazing their live DVD was and how one of them plays a triple-necked guitar and... it just made me realize how rooted i am in the punk side of things, thats where it started for me,

I just discovered that School of Seven Bells released a deluxe edition of Alpinisms with a new song and 9 new versions of songs from the album! For some reason every time I put this on I get carried away, the music connects with me more than just about anything I've heard. And now I have 10 new tracks to explore :) They're good too.

Lovage: Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By

good fun, this. laid back downbeat music mixed with the same tongue-in-cheek tone and unusual presentation found in HanRABome Boy Modeling School.

Dan the Automator at his best :D

Good man :thurab:

Yeah, just let me know if you need any links for the guy eh.

edit: Forgot to say, the Delivery Man is another great album for the beginner too, so might be worth have a gander at that one too.

Borab the Music Industry! - Album Minus Band

I like BTMI!, I like Jeff Rosenstock, I like Ska (I almost said skat there XD) and I like this album. Album Minus Band is BTMI!'s first album and sets the pace for their fast, speratic fusion of ska and synth samples.
Favorite Track(s): FRRRREEEEE BIIIIIIIRRRRD!!!!!!!!! FRRRRREEEEEEEEE BIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRDDD!!!!

Evergreen Terrace - Writer's Block

It's a covers album with alot of my favorite 90s alt covers. I saw Evergreen Terrace when I went to a Strung Out concert a couple months back (I'd never heard of them until I got to the show) and instantly enjoyed them.

Favorite Track(s): Knowledge (Op Ivy), Zero (Smashing Pumpkins), Mad World (Tears for Fears), and Plowed (Sponge)

Deep Dish - George is On

I don't listen to much techo and my friend told me to quit talking to him about Pendulum and listen to something else. So by suggestion of him and constant questioning he told me to get George is On by Deep Dish and Junk Science. Although I like both George is On is a nice easy listen that I'll put on to unwind or if I'm driving a really f*cking long distance.

Favorite Track(s): I honestly couldn't tell you since I listen to the album from start to stop every time and the tracks all flow together.

I remeraber watching The Buddha Of Suburbia when it was aired.
Been meaning to buy it on DVD for ages.

I believe it was the guy who plays Sayid from Lost in his first ever lead role.

Chapterhouse - Whirlpool
A shoegaze classic. Some really awesome songs, huge guitar sounRAB and some great drumming thrown in for good measure.

The House Of Love - The House Of Love (Butterfly)
These guys are just great, it's a shame they never really made it. This is the second self-titled album, i still have to track down the first Creation one.

One more I have to add:

Trouble Books - The United Colors of Trouble Books

333.jpg

This is one of those albums that gave me goosebumps the whole way through the first time I listened to it, and still does. It's some melancholic, slow indie pop with an experimental droney edge. Last.fm has it tagged as dream pop but that's a lie. I can't really explain how good this is, but I do know I need the other 3 albums they've apparently released.

Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express

Really digging Kraftwerk at the moment, always thought they were more hard work than it was worth so never bothered but lately it's clicked. It's this album at the moment getting the most plays, due to the sinister feel of the title track and Showroom Dummies, the amazingly atmospheric Hall Of Mirrors and the arabient Europe Endless.
