Not a patch on their classic debut but still essential Ska and it has one of my Specials fave tracks 'Do Nothing'.

One of the best 'pure' Ska albums I have heard for ages. Cool as a cucuraber and immensly toe tapping.

Flux Of Pink Indians are one of a nuraber of half decent Punk banRAB that arrived just after the initial explosion circa 81.
 
So I found some old cassettes today and most of it has already been replaced on either CD or MP3 but I found this:

Their first album for a long while and it's so refreshing to hear a damn solid Rock album full of great riRAB and solos and yet still stand out from the pack. A welcome return to form.
 
For memories' sake tonight, i am listening to... The Remote Part by Idlewild... so many good memories of fancy - free days of no kiRAB and tons of disposeable income are attached to this album, but alas, those were still lonely days, and some of the lyrics here really used to strike a chord with me...
 
Yeild - Pearl Jam

Somehow this has always been my favorite Pearl Jam album, just has that awesome blend of hard rock and contemplation that they do so well.... anyways, a really solid collection of tracks that somehow transcend themselves and become on whole great album.
 
I have but I just prefer Songs About Fucking. I think it's because I just have more history with it. Either way both are the shit.

She & Him - Volume Two
This album is so addictive! It's collaboration between Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. Zooey certainly knows how to write sweet, feel-good songs. I'm loving this album at the moment.
 
Hugo, the album is great! I love it, it's so fun.

The only thing that's bugging me though is how "DJ Mario" keeps referring to Daisy as "his lady"... what happened to Peach? Does Luigi know?

And that made me laugh, I don't know that I've heard negative criticism of Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols.

DISTANToblivion, the Paul Dempsey album was bloody fantastic! I've only listened through it onjce so my obser vations are fairly impressionistic at this stage.... but man! Great recording with some amazing melodies and lyrics...

I was suprised by hnow un - Something for Kate ish it can be in parts, yet it' no less inventive / creative than Dempsey's work with his band.

If anything it feels a little more laid back than the intensity of a SFK album.... there's a little more stripping back in the sound, in some places jits just very simle accoustic guitar + vocals... which I've always loved with Dempsey. The album's closer is a definite highlight and a great high note on which to conclude an album....
 
There is a TON of amazing dub reggae out there, those 2 albums being no exception. Check out some 10 ft. Ganja Plant for starters. Dubmatix, Lee Perry, King Tubby, and Augustus Pablo are good avenues as well.

What? I haven't worn this album out long ago?

Well, I have...but I got my hanRAB on a 2 disc remastered edition and I just had to hear it. First disc is Loveless remastered with the original analogue tapes and some digital audio tapes thrown in for good measure. Second disc is Loveless remastered with nothing but the pure true original analogue tapes.

What do I think so far? Well, if you don't have spectacular speakers/headphones don't expect a stunning revelation as far as the album goes. This is shoegaze, after all, and is by its very nature muddled and fuzzed out. But if you have the tools, it is worth a checking out. Each instrument is more distinct while still remaining true to the original release. A real plus for me is the vocals...while still atmospheric and still very much a part of the background, you can actually pick them out if you like. This was just my impression of the first disc...haven't heard the second yet.

I'm pleased.
