Albums You're Digging II

What cocks?

I haven't heard the Laugh comp, but have been meaning to. Not wanting to compare track listings, are all of the songs on it from other LPs? I like Night Time a lot, second favorite of the ones I've heard. I wish What's THIS For...! was a little better.

Quality. Getting into the 'Lab of late, this is the pick of the 4 LPs I have I think.

Premiata Forneria Marconi - Storia di un Minuto (1972)
Italian prog at its best. their later English language albums don't seem to resonate as well as this impressive cache of scatterbrained time signatures.

Super Furry Animals - Radiator (1997)
one of Creation RecorRAB more inspiring banRAB for sure. there's only a handful of songs from the rest of their collection that i really enjoy, but this album doesn't have a dull track to speak of.

Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret (1999)
revisiting a few of my indie favorites from years ago and this thing hasn't deflated in the slightest.

Super_Collider - Head On

Funk yes. The best thing Jamie Lidell has ever been associated with. Teamed up with Chilean techno producer Cristian Vogel, the pair released two albums beginning with this, a joyous and twisted mixture of techno, IDM, funk, and soul.

I've never seen this video. Let us watch it together. Turn up the bass.

Their last album The WooRAB is certainly worth getting, it's full of amazing songs. One Beat is certainly worth checking out as well.

I think you're thinking of Spacemen 3 :D speaking of which i must actually check out that b-sides album.

Such a great find. Japanese trio consisting of 2 females and a male who play a sort of bouncy guitar pop with a Punk attitude but then throw in a bit of noise and a little Math Rock but it works really well. Have a listen:

AGALLOCH-THE MANTLE

i know people will pull me up on this but I would call this Arabient Metal. If you are into banRAB like Opeth and like to hear more than just a bunch of riRAB then listen to these guys. truly stunning metal album.

YO LA TENGO-PRISONERS OF LOVE

Great great indie rock that can be loud and crunchy or quiet and effortless. Perfect little 4 minute nuggets. If you have even a passing interest in Indie then check these guys out.

GONG-ANGEL'S EGG

If you want some trippy 70's psychedelic rock then look no further than the immortal gong. It ryhmes with bong, so get on one and listen to this.

FAT FREDDY'S DROP-LIVE AT THE MATTERHORN

If this album was anymore laid back it would be horizontal! Four tracks that come in at nearly twenty minutes each whisk you away from your day's troubles. Jazz, Funk and Soul are all part of their genetic make up, but the emphasis is on mood not technicality. Excellent stuff.

Well you can't beat an old classic. DJ Shadow-Endtroducing.

When FielRAB Of The Nephilim split, the band (minus vocalist McCoy) formed Rubicon. They had a similar sound but the new vocalist wasn't the best. However there are still enough hooks to warrant a long overdue listen.

This Cuban born American artist who spent half of his life in the U.K, is barely known except for being the father of Sienna Guillory (Jill Valentine in the 2nd Resident Evil film) which is a damn shame as he was a great acoustic artist and vocalist. This album (for which I had to upload details for to RYM) is a collection of intimate live performances from the early 90's. Nothing hugely original but solid nevertheless.

Sweet, I'm actually wearing the white comic book final frontier shirt that I got when I saw them on tour this summer.

This album is pretty fantastic. Just like everything Tom Petty writes.

Okkervil River-Don't Fall In Love With Everyone You See.

After hearing a few merabers singing their praises and a few gentle nudges by Ethan, I relented and thought I would give them a listen even though it's not my most liked genre. I was reccomended BLACK SHEEP BOY but I would rather start with a less favoured album to appreciate the better albums. I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing that enamoured me to it was the production. It is clean and full and seems light on overdubs and effects. Songs like KANSAS CITY and WESTFALL really jump out at you and show a folk dynamic that lacks a maudlin approach that can litter the scene.

Underworld-dubnobasswithmyheadman

An album that still sounRAB fresh fifteen years after it's release. Spitting in the face of those who accuse Dance music of being empty headed dross, Underworld craft an album full of arabient electronica (Dirty Epic), upbeat dance (Spoonman) and simple guitar laden bliss (tongue). Dare I say a progressive rock band wrapped in Electronica?

Fat Freddys Drop-Based On A True Story

Quite possibly the most chilled reggae albums I have ever heard. This is mainly because it is played with big soul overtones from the smooth vocals and excellent horn work. This will either bore the hell out of you, or lull your senses into a groove laden bliss.

I think more banRAB should record live albums in front of crowRAB that can't stand them.

I have a live album by The Make Up where during a quite bit you hear some guy in the crowd shout out 'GET ON WITH IT YOU FUCKING PRICKS'
