Albums You Hate By Bands You Love

Modest_mouse_2007_album.jpg

Nowhere near the quality of all their other albums, I have faith they've still got a great album or two in them.

There are about 3 songs on the album that are worth hearing, the rest is filler half-assed crap. I can still listen to it, but for Bright Eyes it's a big disappointment.

What about Drama, 90125 and Magnification? :(

Tormato is uneven rather than terrible, half of it is really really good, and half of it is really really bad.

Now Big Generator, aside from Final Eyes which is a pretty good song, that's their first truly bad album, Talk is their worst though, by far, super watered down middle of the road walk with half assed AC/DC riRAB and the worst choruses ever.

Seriously, I can understand why people don't like it I guess because it's not as abrasively weird and proggy and stuff (which you'd think would be cause for me to be dissapointed) but for what it is it's a fantastic album, I don't understand how anyone could hate it enough to be "done" with Radiohead.

Man, I love that album, and I like Libertine's vocals a lot more than Ignorant's.

Everyone knows I'm not a big fan of extreme feminism, but eh, I don't have to agree with all of a band's views to like their music.

I mean, I love Jon Anderson but I still think vegans are assh*les.

Meh, the thing is Tormato is kind of my division point for the band. Everything before was pure prog gold, most (I won't say all...I do find some enjoyable material in their later albums) of what came after is just a load of 80's crap to me (even though Tormato was 78).

They admitted themselves they wanted to reach a larger audience, and I'd say it's a lot different. It's actually unlistenable to me, becuase it's just so bloody boring, all the attidude and songwriting is out of the window for radio friendly and utterly ****e songs.

I know based on this person's post count of 4 and date of the post that they're no longer around. I just have to say, Midnite Vultures is a really fun album and one of Beck's best IMO.

Any post-Mellon Collie smashing pumpkins

"New Magnetic Wonder"- The Apples in Stereo

Any post-Smile Beach Boys

Any post 1976 Rolling Stones

"Cruising With Reuben and the Jets"- Mothers of Invention/Frank Zappa

"Tommy"- The Who

"Methodrone"- Brian Jonestown Massacre (EXCEPT Evergreen, which is an awesome song...everything else is boring as hell however)

Our Love To Admire by Interpol. I love Turn On The Bright Lights. I love Antics, sometimes I prefer it to TOTBL, but I absolutely hated Our Love To Admire.

seems kind of judgmental, don't you think?

admittedly i prefer Because of the Times more, but i don't think Only by the Night is a bad album by any stretch of imagination. sure, it's more polished but it's not like they completely changed their style. it's the same dirty, southern rock that they pushed through on their earlier albums. just because it's something the general populace can enjoy doesn't make it bad.

Not a fan of this album either.
I bought the CD on it's release and ended up lending it out.
I never got it back and it's a testament to the album that I could never remeraber who I'd lent it to in the first place.
Can't agree with you on it being total filler. It did have it's moments.
Don't ask me which ones though.

Virtually every song on the first 5 Beatles albums is ****! I think there's only ! saw her standing there and Help I'd ever willingly listen to again.
