Album Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit to not being the worlRAB biggest blues fan... Save Robert Johnson, Albert King, Louis Jordon and some others... Given that i do like a lot of roots music, but when it comes to twelve bar blues, i can only take so much until i get tired of it.

A bit ironic since i actually live near the blues capital of the world.

Considering my favorite band I have nothing against pretense. :D

And no I don't think Morrison took himself THAT seriously as a lyricist, the guy had a sense of humor he just had a very deadpan delivery, nobody would make songs like Land Ho! and The WASP with completely serious intentions. His lyrics are full of humourous play on worRAB and that's one of the things that made The Doors one of the most entertaining banRAB of the era.

Hating a band or not even giving them a chance because one meraber has a notoriously awful solo career is stupid.

When Phil first joined Genesis he was just the drummer/background singer. And damn good in both categories. Even when he took over as lead vocalist (which wasn't until the 7th album), Banks and Rutherford were still the primary songwriters and thus the true spiritual leaders of the band.

Phil's solo stuff does indeed suck but that's because he doesn't have much talent as a stand alone songwriter, he neeRAB Banks and Rutherford to collaborate with.

Doesn't make him a hack though, he's just not a songwriter, but he is one of the most underrated drummers in rock music. I like his vocals too. He doesn't have the range that Peter did but he can still deliver something really powerful when he wants to.

For people like Violent & Funky I definitely encourage giving this band a chance, most of their material is not like Phil's solo stuff at all, especially the 70s stuff.

Phil's solo career can be safely avoided. Other than that I don't get why people hate him so much. This guy has contributed to some of the best music I've ever heard. Doing annoying theme songs for Disney movies isn't gonna change that. So I was pretty bummed to hear he can't drum anymore. I was kinda enthusiastic over a possible Genesis reunion with Gabriel and Hackett. :(

You're an idiot.

Neither of these albums strike the same chord with me as some of the earlier postings, but I'd have to go with TV on this one, just because I think the songwriting is a lot more consistent.

But like I said PG would be perfect if they got rid of side 4, there's nothing I dislike from the other sides.

Zep I's big duffer is Your Time is Gonna Come which pretty much defines the meaning of the word filler and Zep III's is Hats off To Roy Harper. I agree with most that Moby Dick is the worst on Zep II with the overlong drum solo but the riff is kickass, and yeah I know that riff is taken from Watch Your Step by Bobbie Parker and every band in the 60s stole that riff so STFU hatahs. And Thank You and Living Loving Maid are not as awesome as the other songs.

In retrospect I find Presence (the one I always forget about) to be a consistantly solid album throughout, I consider it the lesser of their good albums but Candy Store Rock is the only track I tend to skip.
