I don't think either of them has any diversity of character , it's always the same and a little contrived.
I feel they have both allowed themselves to be typecast to the extreme.
I don't think Al Pacino always deserves the plaudits he gets either.
Don't get me wrong, I do think he's been amazing in his time and has made some fantastic films.
But later in his career he has seemed to have gotten a bit 'shouty' and scenery-chewing (for want of a better way of describing his performances )
The Devil's Advocate is a prime example of this - his huge scene with Keanu Reeves at the end always makes me want to go "Oh for God's sake, just shut the f*** up!"
