Al Pacino

Care to ellaborate?

They are without doubt the finest actors of their generation.

Can't split em with a fag paper.

Pacino's best performance's were the Godfather films, IMO

I don't think either of them has any diversity of character , it's always the same and a little contrived.
I feel they have both allowed themselves to be typecast to the extreme.

I don't think Al Pacino always deserves the plaudits he gets either.

Don't get me wrong, I do think he's been amazing in his time and has made some fantastic films.

But later in his career he has seemed to have gotten a bit 'shouty' and scenery-chewing (for want of a better way of describing his performances :o)

The Devil's Advocate is a prime example of this - his huge scene with Keanu Reeves at the end always makes me want to go "Oh for God's sake, just shut the f*** up!"

A few De Niro films ..

The Last Tycoon (movie producer)
Taxi Driver (loner)
The Deer Hunter (vietnam war veteran)
Raging Bull (boxer)
Cape Fear (serial killer)
The Mission (spanish Jesuit)
Stanley & Iris (cook)
Awakenings (private hospital patient)
Casino (Jewish businessman)
Sleepers (catholic father)
CopLand (police officer)
Flawless (security guard)
The Bridge of San Luis Rey (Archbishop)
Marvin's Room (doctor)

Clearly no diversity. Pfft.

He's been absolutely dreadful in a some movies.
Scent of a woman
the recruit
devils advoctae; stand out in my memory for all the wrong reasons.

I find him overrated, he was stunning in Godfather, but he has been truly dire in the above mentioned movies. Sorry :o

MUCH prefer de Niro personally.though Nicholson is my favourite.

There's something about him that I just don't like. I won't say he's not a good actor, he obviously is !, but I much prefer Robert De Niro.

I really liked him in Scent of a Woman. It's one of those films that seems to divide opinion- you either think he's great in it or dreadful.

Devil's Advocate is a bit too shouty even for me though. Yes, it's meant to be an OTT character but it doesn't work like Tony Montana's OTT-ness does.

I love De Niro too though, and Nicholson sometimes :p
