thinking of doing my topic on the successfulness of people dropping out of school compared to those who stay until year 12. considering doing it as cross generational or maybe cross gender. Does anyone have any ideas on how i could go about it or improve? any help at all would be great!

I am currently doing my PIP as well, and I think you're topic is a good one. You could start out by interviewing people in previous generations, e.g 50s. Then move on to our generation, specifically those in our year. Then using that information, you can generate what the future holds for us in a hypothetical sense. Use the ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) website, they're very helpful, and more than likely they will have done a survey on "high school dropouts". I would also suggest interviewing the same amount of people for each generation, and the same amount of people who have stayed in school and who have dropped out. I would definitely do it as a cross-generational thing, but also cross-gender, Are boys more successful if the drop out and get a trade? Are girls more successful if they stay in school and choose an academic career path? Or is it beneficial for both to stay in school and choose a path that suits the individual? There are many internet sites that could probably help you, just search in Google etc, interview teachers as well, they will be essential for a well rounded answer or conclusion to your specific topic. I hope I helped some, and try not to stress too much, i find the ideas come better if I'm not half crazy by the time they reach my brain.

Good luck :)
Jess
