Adding a new plan on my.tmobile.com extends contract?

It's been almost a month that I have been with Tmo, and I realized the plan I have is not best for me. I keep calling customer service to see if they could do the change for me, but I am constantly being put on hold for way too long. I know I'm able to change my rate plan on my.tmobile.com, so my question is will the change extend my 2-year contract? I'm sure if I call them and actually get to SPEAK to a human being, they'd be able to change my plan without any changes made to my contract, but since that hasn't been an option, is it safe for me to just go ahead and make the changes myself online without any contract repercussions?

Also- one more question, I know the $59.99 BlackBerry Minutes & Mail rate plan includes:
(1000 minutes)
(Unlimited data & email)
(Unlimited text messages)
And I know it DOESN'T include unlimited MMS picture messages, but is it possible to just email pictures? Instead of sending them via MMS?
As in attaching a photo and sending it to an email from my email address?
I was just wondering.
Thanks in advance for any responses

yes u can email pictures...and if u want to email it as a mms to another persons cell phone, u can use there number email address. [email protected] or [email protected] just have to find out what the cell companys default address is. if u search on the forums, i saw it listed somewhere. on ur end, it will send as a email, on the receiving persons end it will show up like a mms.

and the site will tell u uf ur re-upping ur contract before u do it. u will have to "accept" it. and even so, ur a month into it anyway, whats extending it a month longer...not that big off a deal.

I recently contemplated changing my plan and called CS to ask a couple of questions. This time, including all others, I never had to wait on hold for that long.

I was told, by a Diane in CS, that if you have a myFaves plan that changing your plan does not affect your contract length at all. Good to know if you have myFaves. If not, I would say just hang in there for CS and if you can call at off hours. I haven't had to wait long at all getting to CS even at seemingly peek hours.

Good luck.

Yeah, thanks for the speedy responses.
I do have myFaves currently, I'm one of the braniacs, though, that got hopped up on getting a BlackBerry without being knowledgeable of what is neccessary to own one. So after getting my myFaves plan, I realized, I need internet to do basically everything besides phone usage. So that's where I am now.

I must be on the opposite side of your customer service experience, because everytime I call I either A) never reach an associate because I am on hold waiting to be helped for a lengthy amount of time (I was able to cook a full meal...and eat and was on hold the entire time before hanging up and trying again), B) I get transfered from one Technical associate to another customer associate that I eventually give up, or C) I literally cannot understand what the customer rep is saying to me.

At any rate, I went ahead and did the plan changes on my.tmobile.com and it said there will be an extention to my contract of 12 months, I'm trying to figure out of that is a year on top of my two year contract, any takers?
And if I'm understanding you correctly, since I had a myFaves plan to begin with, is the one year extention voided? I'm so confused.

I can't say that I've experienced what you have with CS, but I would say attempt to call them again and ask about your plan change.

I was assured several times that since I have a myFaves plan that changing to any other myFaves plan did not have any affect on my contract length even though the website says so. I was surprised when my CSR said that to me the first time that I literally asked her 4 more times before we hung up and she repeated the same thing.

Good luck with your service.

Oh! Ok, it's only if the plan you're changing to and from are myFave plans?
The plan that I'm transferring to is not going to be a myFaves plan
Sucks.
That's good to know anyways, sweet deal
I've already changed it on my.tmobile.com so it'll take affect soon, I guess I'll just stick it out for the extra year. I switched from Sprint...yeah,so as of now I'm happy with T-Mobile and I don't feel I'm going to be switching to any other carrier, so it's no biggie.
Thanks again

It shouldn't be adding a 3rd year to your original 2 year contract. That's not right. You should only have a 12 month contract now. Actually it shouldn't change. I remember awhile back I was sold with going to T-Mobile because they stated if you are having a hard time paying your bill you could downgrade it to something cheaper for a few months without a contract extension. You might want to call them on it. But for the most part, I have been completely satisfied with T-Mobile since 2003.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~if you go into a store and change it and tell them you do not want to extend the contract they will take care of that. They've always done it for me. I've changed my plan 100 times, lol, because some months I'm using 3000 minutes the next my phone is shut off because I don't want to talk to anyone, haha

Lol yea the only time you have to extend your contract is when you want a discount on a new phone.

That's odd, so why would it say a 12 month extention in the fine print before I completed my plan change online?
I'm swamped with school today, but if I have time I'm going to go in to the Tmo store today and straighten everything out. I already made the change online, so I'd basically be asking for them to just drop the extention, if any and if possible.
It just doesn't make sense why my contract would extend a whole year just because of one plan change...

I have made several plan changes and from what I have been told the extension clause for a plan change only kicks in if you have less than 12 months left on your contract and then it only extends you out to a full 12 months. In your case there should not be any extension.

Please post back and let us know what you learn!

When I had Tmo I was able to switch plans at will. If I realized I went over the minutes or messages, I could call and change it for that month only to avoid the overages. I really liked that about Tmo, unfortunately their service stinks in my area.

gary you are correct...as long as you have over 1 year left on your contract they won't extend anything just make the changes for you...but if you are under, they then extend you contract for 1 year from that date of change with the new plan you just asked for...i just had this conversation with my good friend who is a t-mo rep...hope this helps

You guys were correct, it did not extend my contract! I was stoked about that!
Do any of you guys have that particular plan? (BlackBerry Minutes and Mail)
I don't really talk a ton on the phone unless neccessary, are the 1000 minutes per month enough for those of you who have the same plan?
