Ache in upper left arm

Hi, I've had a constant aching in my upper left arm for months now. Went to my chiropractor and he said I have degeneration of the cartelage between the vertebrae in my neck which caused a nerve to be pinched. Now I have this prickling sensation which travels down my arm to my fingers. I know before I started going to the chiropractor I had intense pain in my arm to the point I would drop whatever I was holding. I don't believe it's heart related or anything simply because there are no other symptoms. Just this ache which seems to always hang around. I massage the area and apply icy/hot. I am able to put my arm up and behind my head which seems to relieve the ache but then my arm wants to go numb..lol. Such a vicious cycle. If I scrunch my shoulders up around my ears I can hear a popping sound from my shoulder blade and crunching noises but only from my left side.

You need a cervical MRI ASAP. That dropping of everything has a name...it's called Clumsy Hand Syndrome and goes with nerve compression in your neck. The fact that you now have that tingling/prickling sensation means the nerve is in danger of dying and you need to stop the chiropractor and see a spine surgeon about saving the nerves in your arm.

Your pinched nerve is now a badly compressed nerve and you can develop paralysis, loss of feeling and complete loss of use if it's not alleviated.

Come on down to the Spinal Cord Disorders board where all us cervical type people hang out and learn more. But you need an MRI like yesterday.

Sounds bit like some of the symptoms that my partner got with thoracic outlet syndrome, he still lives with this now as opted against the surgery which was not guaranteed to fix it and could have done more damage, but did have a dvt in his arm about 9 months ago due to the problem. Search for 'thoracic outlet syndrome' online and see if any of the other symtoms are similar, its a compression of blood vessels/nerves around the area of neck/shoulder. His arm is usually noticeably a different colour to the other but not sure if this is the same with everyone who has it.
