get well soon.
I had my first get off last year in March. Low speed, I hit a dip in the road while going right off a yield / exit on to a 2 land road w/ a 35 mph limit. I'm sure I was under 35, and estimate about 30. My zx14 hit that dip and went into a tank slapper and spit me off. I'd been riding 16 years, and had the 14 for almost 2 years. Came off a ZX11 prior to that.
I was able to ride home, but took some muscle damage & had to go to the ER afterwards. I replaced the left side plastics & nose piece myself.
I was wearing full gear/ stich, Arai & Lee Parks deer skin gloves & sidi boots.
The arai saved me from a nasty face plant, the stich kept all my joints uninjured, and took a few minor tears. The LP gloves did help with the abrasion, but with no padding I got a serious (golf ball sized) contusion on the back of my hand. The boots pulled an anchor out that held the toe slider in place. Neither Motonation, nor Sidi Italy would ship one to me. I contacted them literally half a dozen times, offered money for the -explicit- part 3 times, spoke with everyone I could there unitl I contacted Sidi directly, who put me back in touch with Motonation - who then
asked for what part I needed & how to get it to me ( this was the 6th time I'd given the same info ).
I never got the part from them. I will never buy another Sidi product, nor anything distributed by Motonation. I highly encourage everyone to boycott Motonation as well. They don't stand behind the products they sell, and couldn't give a $hit less about their customers.
Aerostich OTOH fell over backwards to help me repair my suit, did a full evaluation, emailed the results and then called me with an explanation. And, they did it fast. within a couple days of receipt of the suit. They repaired it and had back in my hands in a week, fixed and fixed RIGHT, the first time without any drama.
Situations like this are what you learn from as a previous poster indicated. In my case, I went down on a turn I've literally taken a thousand times, and to really ice the cake, I was not going that fast. I took several lessons away from this. As a previous teacher of mine said " a validation or invalidation of your tactics and equipment"...
In my case - Steering damper for the 14. Let's see her try that tank slapper $hit again. (actually let's not but it won't happen so easy next time ) Repaired the stich, got a new helmet & replaced the gloves with the super expensive BKS 2000 gloves which have armor everywhere.
just take a hard look at your injuries, their severity and address them.
