Seriously? The film is pretty well-known, as is the play by Tennessee Williams from which it is adapted.
It has the distinction of being the first movie ever to win three Oscars for its acting (Vivien Leigh as Blanche, Kim Hunter as Stella and Karl Malden as Mitch), the irony of it being that Marlon Brando, who truly shines as Stanley, was the only main cast member overlooked (in favor of Humphrey Bogart for The African Queen). The only other movie to receive three acting Oscars to this day is Network (Best Actor, posthumously won by Peter Finch, Best Actress won by Faye Dunaway and Best Supporting Actress won by Beatrice Straight).
I love both the movie and the play, and for years, I couldn't understand why on Earth the film was not available on DVD in Region 2. It's been released last month in the UK and I plan to get my hands on it next time I'm there.
Anyway, after reading your messages, I have to strongly disagree with the general opinion that Stella is the weakest link. On the contrary, I believe she is the strongest character, because up to the end, she manages to stay in control of her emotions unlike Blanche and Stanley. It's also a courageous decision to take for her to leave Stanley in the end IMHO.
