Just because a character happens to be feces & have the ability to speak doesn't mean it is stolen. That's like someone suing Walt Disney for making a talking mouse character
 
I know a lot of people here hate John K., but I give you a commentary on the Spumco vs. Nick controversyfrom 1996 by a worker at Rocko's Modern Life and John K.'s rebuttal of sorts:

The whole thing is ridiculous. How does John expect anyone to take him seriously if he's fighting for the legal rights of TALKING POO (of all things)? It's like the guy is scrapping the bottom of a garbage can just so he can eat. :sad:
 
I also have no problem with John, given I agree with his general opinion on the decay of animation in general thanks to outsourcing, continuations, comic adaptations, and retrends
 
You know, recently I'd been thinking that if I ever got into the animation business, I'd want to work on a cartoon series with John Kricfalusi, but now I realize that I'd never want to work with this man - he's too much of a stuck-up egotistical b*stard for my tastes. I'm sure I'd never be able to get a word in edgewise. I would, however, like to meet him someday and tell him that just because he created one successful cartoon, it doesn't make him the Almighty Lord of Animation.

(And while I'm at it, I'd tell him to stop extolling Bob Clampett as the best director to ever create theatrical cartoons at Warner Bros. Sure, he had great ideas, but so did Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng and Robert McKimson. Just because their cartoons aren't wild and crazy and laden with subtle sexual innuendo, it doesn't mean they aren't good.)
 
I don't see why we have to have a thread about every little thing John K. says, especially since this interview doesn't say much that he hasn't said before.

One could assume that we're just providing for John K. to rant MORE, since we're giving him so much attention.
 
if it wasnt for him there would never of been no i am weasel samuri jack Star war clones wars and even dexter. If its true what he said. Man jeez im so glad HE helped them.

Charles Adler is a great voice actor. Watch AAAH! Real Monsters and Rocko's Modern Life and see just how talented he really is!

How John can bash this guy is beyond me... :shrug:
 
I agree with some of what he said, it really shows what he's done for the animation industry, but his head is too high up in the sky. He has a huge ego problem.
 
How come he only waits til he's over the phone or on the internet to say this stuff? It's easy to be tough in text form. I'd like to see him call out other shows at a convention panel.

John K. sounds like he's Howard Stern in this email. "I invented cartoons, Robin. Hoo hoo hoo."
 
Good point. Whenever I've listened to commentary with John K. on the Ren & Stimpy or Looney Tunes GC DVDs, he's much more reserved and more level-headed.
 
John Kricfalusi: "Hmm...what do we have in this smorgsboard of garbage today? Cool! A rotten shoe! It may be a smelly piece of footwear, but at least we're eating the way the cavemen did it!"

I feel sorry for those who've been sticking with Spumco for all these years.
