A few software reviews...

An update... I thought to be fair... I should post some new info here about NVBackup. I used Splash and it seems to have no problem working with the NVBackup software. !

This free small software lets make cool animations out of a stick man, or as the author calls, a bone man. You control the joints in multiple frames to make the desired animation. A pretty good deal of imagination is required in order to predict what the next frame should look like.

You can save your work, but unfortunately, everything is saved in one file (BoneSDatabase.pdb), so you can't - for instance - have your animations separated to share them individually or the like.

On newer Palms, the animation is really fast; for that, you can add a delay or interpolation. The one I use is interpolation 15. It not only slows down the animation, it also adds a favorable motion blur.

So far, I've created a 'soccer double-kick' and a 'driving' animation. The app comes with a few ones made by the author.

Head to the official website to download BoneMan and read the quick guide.

It's a nice lil' app!

I'm always a sucker for a good price, and this one is right on top with that.. FREE! Brand new release on both palmgear and freewarepalm is FreeJongg The author of this title did a fantastic job on this game. Great graphics, even in 4bit greyscale. The author put all the versions (color, greyscale, and hi-res) into one program file, so it is a little heavy ~250kb. The gameplay is wonderful, and the tiles are very readable. Helpful gameplay rules are included as part of the program. And, as an added option, there are some predefined backgrounds you can have for your playing table. All of this, in a freeware package. For this title, I give 5 stars out of 5.

Requires Palm OS 3.5 and higher, 4 bit greyscale minimum. Supports 160x160 and 320x320 resolution.

OK .. I could have sworn there was a thread but heck if I see it...
I have been using TV Browser...
http://www.doublebit.com/ptvb/xmltv/
The link takes you to a page that gives great info on how to install and where to get the listings...
It was not hard to install and to use is a blast.. I look up stuff during lunch to see if there is anything I want to watch ( not often that happens ) but yesterday I missed the pilot of heros.. and look at my TV guide at home and did not see it repeating.. bummer... out comes the TV Browser , I cruise it back to the show I missed and clicked on showings.... and poof, there it was for 3 days later and a diff channel !
It allows a max of 2 weeks of TV guide.. You have to use your PC software to retrieve an updated list.. telling it to just add the new info saves download time. and can include show and movie descriptions.. when you set the whole thing up you tell it your area and cable company info so it selects the correct listings and channels... you then tell it what channels you want listed... so you can skip spanish channels if you dio not speak spanish, skip the home shopper stuff, CNN channels etc...

IN use, it will let give you a TV listing by Time.... Channel... day.. and it has filters so you can do a quick list of sci fi. country, childrens shows etc etc .. and you can select more than one for it to search and list..
Shows already started are listed in RED !!

I'll start off by saying, I've never played this game, and have only seen my grandmother play it. I had no clue as to what I was doing, and as a typical for me, I jumped straight into the game, without reading much of the rules for play. Well, my first game I got Skunked! Whatever that means. I laughed, and played again.. I lost, but didn't get skunked. Ok.. Now I'm curious. How do I play, as I've obviously not figured it out too well yet.

The rules of the game tell the game layout, and the scoring for the game, but don't do much in terms of 'What should I discard? What should I play?' information. After reading the directions twice trying to soak it in, I returned to the game, and tried to do the best I could, looking for the 'points plays' listed in the game. I'm doing quite a bit better this game, but the computer just got a power play on me, and scored an incredible 18 points in one hand. I've not figred out the crib, or how to best determine what to put into the crib.. so I fear I'm not going to win this game.

The gameplay is very straight forward, with tapping on the cards you wish to play / discard to crib. The board auto updates during game play, and then auto updates after scoring your hand. The graphics are fairly simple, with the emphasis on the actual gameplay itself, vs wowing with looks. The game works in greyscale and color mode and only takes up ~30kb on my handheld. Both color and greyscale versions are contained in the same program file. I've found no bugs within this software, and it has not crashed.

There are a few game settings you can change in the options, but as of yet, I don't know much about them... maybe I'll figure it out as I get better at the game. This version pits you against the computer for gameplay. There is not an option to play against another person.

I give this software title 4 stars of 5... In need of better game play help information. For those of you who already know how to play, this probably won't matter to you. Enjoy!

LOL :D

Good catch, Lelisa13p ;)

(@ plantboy1: this is not towards you, it is towards the 'creator' of this thread but I am sure he will appreciate it :newpalm: )

I've been using Handzipper for years. It works as a backup program, putting the backups into standard .zip files. The only drawback to it is that it won't do automatic scheduled backups, you have to manually do the backups. It also has a text viewer, letting you view text files in .zip files, such as readme and manual files.
