I also feel they snubbed Brad big time, but i was more schoked cause they snubbed Roy Scheider.. WTF?????????? :goof: My mouth nearly dropped, I was waiting for that Jaws theme to pop up and it never did. Also Ashleigh Aston Moore, even though she wasn't a huge film star, she was in a noteable movie and they failed to mention her too.

Someone prints out a bunch of ballots and you fill one out with who you think is going to win. To enter the competition you throw however much money the pool entry fee is. Since we're poor students, it was two dollars  And the winners (the one who got the most categories correct) get all the money that is in the pool

How freaking adorable was Amy Adams?!?!?!?!?

Me too don't worry the first reason I think she deserves to win is her performance being French is just a detail which would give her the bonus of being the first French to do so !

Did anyone else think that Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen weren't funny when they were presenting one of the awards?

This year's Oscars had the worst tv ratings ever. People just don't like independent movies. They want to see blockbusters get nominated and win. Lord of the Rings and Titantic are the only recent blockbusters that I can think of that actually won some big awards. I guess you could throw Gladiator in there too.

youvegotwings you have a Beecher and Keller icon. Sweet, I loved those two together. I still have mixed feelings over the ending, but there is always dvds.

I really hope the strike is over in time for the Oscars, even though I doubt it. And if there is none of the glamor this year, I hope they still do the segment when they honor those who have died. It's my favorite part of the Oscars because they usually do it with such class. Sadly Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger will be on it this year.

They had dates before the honored those who have passed away and since Roy died after February 1st, he wasn't mentioned... Such bull **** though! I was fuming when I saw that Brad Renfro wasn't in the montage. WTF! It was a travesty!

agreed...it's been casey's year...although i much prefered his performance in 'the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford' over his performance in 'gone baby gone'....another reason to recommend 'the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford' is for it's cinematography....which imo will win that picture the oscar in that category...

The awards were good. I'm still annoyed that they didn't give tribute to Brad Renfro, part of the academy or not.

He's an amazing actor.

I'm sure Viggo and Johnny will have their day as well.

Congrats to the Coens for No Country For Old Men.

ETA: Wow, best picture too!!!

I'm thrilled for DDL!

But I can't wait for the DAY when Johnny Depp gets up there to get his incredibly riducously deserved award. That day will not come soon enough.

Same for Viggo. Viggo was finally nominated so I'm thrilled about that! He wasn't overlooked this year.

Director and Best movie?

Ohhhh, No country and Atonement?

I have NO idea, I have to say. What if Juno pulls the upset? Anyway. I'll just watch.

I won my Oscar pool! :woot: And I was honestly okay with this years Oscars. I did pick No Country over Atonement to win adapted screenplay so it wasn't a totally shock to me that it won. And I also went for TWBB over No Country for cinematography.

We had the best drinking game for the Oscars... I was drunk by the end of the night :look:

I didn't know either, I only found out a few days ago. And he was nominated twice as well. I honestly don't know what he needs to do to win. I haven't seen There Will Be Blood but I'm not sure how it could have topped both Jesse James and NCOFM... I'm watching it on Thursday, hopefully that might give me an idea.

The Oscars really were blah this year, weren't they? Even the announcement of NCOFM as Best Picture was rather anticlimatic.
