Hi. I LOVE (500) Days of Summer! I watched it when it came out on DVD and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it so I bought the soundtrack and then today I ordered the DVD. I can't wait until it gets here.
I will say, the movie faked me out. The beginning collage showed the scene with Summer & Tom on the park bench with her wedding ring and I thought that was their future so most of the movie I was like "When are they getting back together?" And then the wonderful reality/expectation scene you guys mentioned came on and I was like "oh". Then I remembered the very first line - "This is not a love story". It was a little bit of a disappointment for me at first but I kept thinking and thinking about the movie and the more I thought about it the more I liked it.
I also loved the dancing scene with Tom. I have respected JGL for awhile as a great actor, but that scene made me have quite the crush on him and I am, well, I'll just say a bit older than him. I think he did a fantastic job with the role of Tom.
For those of you who don't like Summer and thought she was cold- remember the movie was from his perspective. Also, I got the impression that since Tom was such a sucker for love that he fell hard frequently (didn't his sister say something like "not again" when he was depressed over Summer?). This just happened to be the only one we, as an audience, saw, but I don't think it was the only crushing relationship Tom's had. I also loved how the relationship with Summer made him learn and progress and grow to where he was able to meet Autumn.
Ok- way too much analysis right now! I just really loved this movie, LOVE the soundtrack and can't wait to watch it again.
