500 Days of Summer: "This is not a love story. It's a story about love."

I'm glad you guys loved it so much! It's such a refreshing love story. It's not implausible (as most rom coms are), and it makes sense. We've all had our ups and downs in a relationship. It was easy to connect with Zooey's and Joseph's characters.

I loved the musical number, too! It went surprisingly well with the rest of the movie. Joesph was so cute.

Gosh, I really need to get the soundtrack. I'm so in love with the Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition." I listen to it on repeat. Can't get enough of it.

I thought that this movie was cute! I loved the ending, but man Summer really annoyed me

My only complaint is that it did seem a teeny bit slow...but still good :)

Oh & the soundtrack is GREAT!

I bought the soundtrack the other day, I can't stop listening to it now! :D

I'll definitely need to buy this on DVD when it comes out.

I loved this movie.
Is so not cliche. You can't hate Summer, sho won't be a bad person with him, and it is so cute. The conversation in the end is amazing. She say everything, and we can see how much he grow.

I wanna see this movie again.

The musical number killed me :lmao: It was adorable, every one who was in the theatre watching it was full on laughing.

I got to see this last night and omg i loved it. i knew it'd be kinda quirky but it was more so than expected. it was perfect.

Well, I am old next to him- about 12 years older! At least I am not old enough to be his mother because that would be a little gross! But, he is talented. I liked him on 3rd Rock from the Sun (actually, he was really the only part of that show I did like), I then saw him in Mysterious Skin (total departure from Tom, that's for sure!), Brick, & Stop-Loss. I think that's it. Probably some guest TV roles, too.

I am glad you liked my analysis. That's just what I thought when Tom's sister said "not again"- that he's had these soul-crushing depressions over a failed relationship before. I was actually grateful to Summer towards the end because he finally went back to his architecture. To me, though, the movie wasn't really about Summer, it was about Tom. So, I guess that's why I can't get too upset with her- she was just a bump in his road. Zooey Deschanel did look beautiful, though. This was a GREAT role for her as well!

I wish the mail would hurry up and deliver it! I just bought it yesterday, though, through Columbia House and they take a little while to mail things out. Darn it!

Best part about this movie was the subdued cinematography. So tired of the overused-in-indie-production weird camera angles. It was interesting without being in your face about how unique it is.

And the soundtrack was great.

I did find the acting rather mediocre, though. Solid script really saved a few scenes that the actors weren't intense enough to act out.

THIS it's exactly what I think :high_five: I LOVED the movie seriously  And I loved the ending as it was (eventhough I was quite frustrated while going out of the cinema  ) but I did hate Summer really!
I actually think it's even worst if she was already engaged from the beginning as I already thought she was using him from the beginning! I'm glad Tom grew up at the end though, he won't do the same mistake again :D

At least, you noticed that part with the wedding ring in the beginning! I didn't even notice the ring when I watched the movie in theaters over the summer. My sister did though, and she was smart enough to figure out that Summer's going to get married to someone else. It made it all quite bittersweet though, huh? :( It was quite heartwrenching when Tom sees Summer's ring at the party! It came like a gunshot through the heart. :(

I loved the dancing sequence as well! JGL's so adorable, and he's so talented, that you can't help but like him. ;) He also looks so young for his age (he doesn't seem to age!) that I'm sure most of us feel 'old' next to him.

Thanks for your analysis! It's spot on!

I want to re-watch it now. It's definitely worth buying.

I loved the soundtrack to this film. I have to find it somewhere.

I liked the film all right. It didn't feel complete, but that was the point. But I especially liked the artwork tossed in and, oh, the clothes.

I had to drive an hour to see this movie. Worth every cent. Maybe I'm slightly biased because I have the biggest crush on Zooey, but I thought she was fantastic in this film. I already forgot she was in The Happening. I love that it's not as predictable as it looks, but they tell you straight up it's not a love story. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. Definitely on my top ten of this year.

I was glad they didn't end up together. She didn't love him, I wouldn't want Tom to end up with someone who didn't care about him as much as he did about them. She wanted to have fun, he wanted a romantic relationship.

Depressed Tom was so sad but also so hilarious.

i can :goof:

i was actually hoping that by the end of the movie she would realize what had she missed, but of course she had to have some super happy ending :pout:

that is why i was very happy with the way movie ended, when he met Autumn.

anyways, the movie was so great. it was more realistic than all of these romantic movies. it was just different.
